Missing Lift Pump???

I just installed one today on my '04. 5 that has a Power Puck and an AFE drop in filter. I'm not sure about it yet. I'm still used to the sound of a gas V-8for a performance sound, so it may take a little getting used to. I drove it back from the shop and the turbo seems to spool a bit faster on the 50 HP setting than it did with the trash can OEM muffler. I haven't tried the 90 HP setting yet.



The install went pretty smooth, a word of advice, a sawzall is your best friend. Don't even mess with the cheezelog OEM muffler clamps make your first cut at the rear just behind the end of the muffler tube and then cut the front just forward of the muffler tube. There were some assembly locating "knobs" or "dowels" on the OEM piping that I trimmed off with the sawzall and ground smooth with a small grinder. I ended up removing the tailpipe from the truck to shorten it a bit to get the alighnment right and whacked about 6" off the slashed end so that I could install the polished 5" tip. The whole thing looks good, the MBRP piping is bent nicely, the hangers are in the right places, it will give some additional ground clearance on the 4X4's, but the muffler seems really small in size.



If you have a lift and a sawzall with some 5"+ long metal blades, you should be able to do the install in less than an hour.

They do sound different than a 24 valve or a 12 valve when you pull the factory muffler, most folks love it as it's just a "different" sound.

I tried the 90 HP setting on the 'Puck last night, and the turb spools really nice. I'm getting used to the sound, as it does sound like a big-truck inline six now, which isn't bad, just as you said "different". When I "pour the coal" to it, the turbo making boost is still louder than the exhaust, for those considering purchasing one of these muffler kits.
