Im thinking about getting a MBRP muffler installed on my 05.

The truck is bone stock. I would like to know, from the members that have installed one on their truck.

Was there any increase in the noise level in the cab from stock to MBRP?

How much performance increase?

Thanks.

I installed my 4 in MBRP exhaust over a year ago now. I really like the throaty sound it gives the exhaust but it is not loud. If you add a BHAF or AFE type open air filter it will really make the turbo whistle.

You will hear the exhaust but it is not much louder. I'm very happy with mine. It can cause a drone on some trucks at around 1700-2200 RPM. I notice it sometimes but it doesn't bother me. It usually won't last long.

I'm very happy with MBRP. You got to expect to hear the exhaust more but I would not say its loud.

I wish I'd done mine sooner. It lets the engine breath better especialy with the open air filter (I have AFE stage 1). I think it adds some to performance but I had a boost leak prior and that really sucked my performance. I can't compare because I had fixed the boost leak after adding the exhaust and AFE to help performance, which it did even with the leak. After adding Piers boost lines I really saw a difference.

Good luck,

Dave

I installed the MBRP 4 inch turbo back about 2 months ago. I left the cat off and ran it for about a month. My wife complained, with some justification, about the sound level and the smell of kerosene in the garage. I've since installed a 4" cat from a '06 in the system. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, although it seems a bit quieter and smells less. I'm headed for the desert next week so hope to give it a good tryout then.

My objective in installing the 4" system was to reduce EGT pulling my RV up hills. I guess I'll find if that worked soon.

I put the muffler replacment on my truck and have been really happy with it. At idle it sounds about the same as stock, when you step on it, it has a deeper tone but not a whole lot louder. Once I put the AFE stage 2 in I can barely hear the MBRP over the intake.

I just put the MBRP replacement muffler on my 2005 and at idle you don't really hear a difference. When you are going down the road you do hear a different sound, not really real loud from inside the cab but it is very different however you quickly grow used to it.

Now for the fun part, when I wen under an overpass I stepped on it and it was just awesome the sound this exhaust muffler made, very throaty sounding.

I am very happy with the MBRP replacement muffler, I also added an AFE stage II Pro Guard 7 system and with that you can hear a little bit of turbo whine, but it does not bother me like I at first thought it would. Now I hardly even notice the turbo whine and I have only had the intake on for a few days.

Have had mine on for a couple of months & really like it. Compared to the banks exhaust I had on my 01 this thing is quiet in comparison. I like to roll the passenger back window down once in awhile just to hear it's throaty sound because you don't even notice it in the cab. No drone here, even pulling 12,000 lbs behind me.
