Wanted to make this thread well-known to everyone at TDR. My original posting is in the 12 valve engine and trans discussion board. I ordered a Part from MBRP, MDS930, which is described on their web-site as "Dodge Exhaust Components - 4" single system muffler delete pipe". I called MBRP and verified this before I ordered my product, as I had seen two different part numbers (on different web-sites, MBRP only advertised MDS930), MDS930 and MDS936. When I talked to Sales with MBRP they told me that MDS930 was the part and MDS936 must be a PN that was discontinued.
I bought MDS930, took my muffler off, and the part number that I had bought was roughly 6" short. I had to drive the truck as it was to a muffler shop to have them weld on a 4" peice of stainless steel metal that they just happened to have, charged me 80$.
On Monday, I called up MBRP (I had tried calling them the day I did the job but it was Saturday and they were closed). I told them my situation and they started doing some research. The folks at sales got back to me and told me that they had made two different single exhaust systems, one had a 36" muffler and one had a 30" muffler. The only part number they were listing was MDS930 which was a muffler delete for the 30" muffler, nothing off of their web-site or in their sales department made a mention of the 36" muffler system. So there was my 6 inches right there...
I sent them the receipt just today from the muffler shop and when sales finally got back to me they offered me another product to pay for their mistake. I was skeptical because all I really wanted was a check for 80$. After all, they had made the original mistake right? Well they told me that I didn't have to get that extra metal welded on there anyways since I had still had the 36" muffler...
That all makes sense and everything, but they still made the original mistake and I wouldn't have been in the situation if they had been advertising their products correctly. They are sending me a nifty 6" exhaust tip now, I appreciate the fact that they would do that to correct their mistake... but I guess my opinion is I should have gotten a little better treatment and asked me what I wanted.
Thoughts??? Anyone had similar experiences?
