MBZ Diesel for 06?

Any truth to the rumor that the MBZ. diesel will be in the pick ups for 06 and that cummins will be in the fords ??

Probably not. Too costly for Dodge to switch to a different engine (dealers would have to stock parts for both engines, retraining techs, etc. ) and I think Dodge and Cummins have an agreement through 07.

I was looking at one of my trade publications the other day... . 2 interesting notes...



1 - the majority or acutally all of Cummins profits were from the sale of engines to Dodge... .



2 - that a new agreement had been signed through 08 or 09 don't remember... . but it seemed like a long time..... for agreements that is..... I looked for the information but can't find the exact date... .

I believe the exclusivity deal is through 2010. They have been working too closely together to get through all the EPA emissions tiers to jump ship now.

early this year the extention was for 10 more years , the prior date was 07. no reason to change from a good seller

I've heard that a benz diesel might be offered for lighter duty applications.

I read in either C/D or R/T that the liberty will offer a diesel. This could be the LD MBZ your talking about?

yea the new liberty will come from the factory with bio diesel blend in the tank and an italian made diesel. i cant remember the name but it starts with a V

Jeep will use the VM diesel... . (used in a lot of euro cars under their own brand name. )
