Looking into getting a mechanical lift pump and wanting to hear some opinions on each of them i. e. fuel boss, RASP, Mitusa, and any others that I don't know of. Warranties? Thanks in advance.
 
I have a RASP and really like it. Very mechanical, very simple, I've had mine apart to check internals - 2 shafts with gears on them, back, o-ring, front seals, then pulleys and a cog (Gimler) belt good for 50k.



I have done some modification to the bypass valve system that keeps the VP44 at a constant 14#.



I recently change my OEM harmonic balancer to a FluiDamper and the RASP still fits just fine (the FluiDamper is thicker than the OEM).



AND the OEM lp is setup as a backup if anything ever happens to the RASP.

I am running a 12 valve mechanical pump off a F1 Helix camshaft.



Very stock in function and appearance and I can get a stock pump anywhere.



No additional pumps, wiring or the like required. But, it will require a cam. 60K trouble free miles!

I have a RASP and warranties was one of the initial questions of this thread.



My RASP (70k miles) developed a slight drip type leak out of the front shaft area. My RASP was one of the very early production units in 2003. I called DTT and they sent me a new set of seals for it (my origional frame only had 1 seal, DTT sent 2 seals that would fit in the same frontal area). The drip slowed some but did not stop. I let the seals seat in for about 6 weeks.



I called DTT back and they sent me a new production unit. This one is VERY different at the front end. The front shaft end is literally sealed with a brass fitting. I assume there is packing or some sealing material like that behind the brass fitting. It also has air bleed ports in the pump body that my 2003 version did not have, so you can bleed the air in the pump chamber. I think there was some design of the front seal area in the origional pump frame that was not quite right. That problem seems to have been addressed in the new units.



There is a "$50 deposit" refundable to you when you send your pump back to them (ie they want your pump back! so they can disassemble it and check it out).



The RASP has a 5 year warrantee on it and I find DTT very accomodating in the resolution of my seal / drip problem.
