Another example of the liberal media bias!!!

The recent story out of Texas on the woman that caught the poor sucker in her windshield!!!

If the rolls were reversed, i. e. (if the victim was black and the suspect was white) the Media would have declared it a Hate Crime and Jessie Jackson would be organizing protests!!!!

The FBI would be involved, etc. , etc.

Bob

My favorite was the quote from her lawyer that said, "It is preposterous that she is being charged with murder. " What, what, what? She left the guy laying through her windshield for 2 days until he died and then dumped the body, now that may not have started out as murder but her negligence in seeking help for the guy is outrageous.

What completely surprised me was when the MEDIA said "... drove with a HOMELESS man in her windshield... . " and then, five seconds later, cut to interviews of the victims FAMILY sobbing and crying, and saying what a wonderful guy he was. If he had family, why was he homeless ?

My parents wouldn't leave me out on the street. I don't get it.

I also love how the media very conviently glisses over those facts, just so long as they can get the picture of somebody crying on TV.

F*$%^&G Media MEDIA IS KILLING THIS COUNTRY

off the soap box now... .

Everyone bashes lawyers...

But if you ask me, most reporters make lawyers look more like saints!! If they can't find a real story, they embellish, lie or downright write fiction!! I believe maybe 10% of what the news reports.

Here's a story for you: Several years ago, I was on my second cruise onboard USS John F Kennedy. We were pierside in Marseille, France for Christmas. I took some leave, went up to Chamonix to do some skiing with my (now) ex-wife. One morning the phone rings at 7AM in the B&B where we were staying and the owner comes in and says it's for me. I say merci, stumble out of bed to answer the phone and it's my mother in law. She says, "Oh, you're still there!" I answered, "where would I be?" She said she had just seen on the news that the Kennedy had left port and was headed to the middle east. Saw the ship on TV and everything. I reminded here about believing the news and she said, "well, it was NBC - not CNN. " Too funny. My unit had the B&B number to recall me if that happened, but nothing. Just to be sure, I called the hotel suite we (the unit) had rented in Marseilles. Hmmm... . calling the hotel suite of a bunch of Naval Aviators at 7 AM during a port call. I got pretty much the answer I figured I would and much grief when I returned to the ship - which was still securely tied to the pier and remained there for the entire planned port call.

Media? I have pretty much no respect for them at all. And it's sad, because there are some out there with journalistic integrity. It's just the rest of them ruin it for the good ones in my mind.

I saw a brief story about a new book written by two staff writers from The Washington Post (arguably, the most credible source out there).

The name of the book is "The News About The News". Sounded very interesting. I haven't got it yet.

They mentioned a few quick facts, like TV stations run on 40% profit margins, and if that starts slipping, they'll run anything (or usually try scaring people into watching) to get the numbers back up.

I guess it's all about money, but with such a powerful, and persuasive medium as TV (your x-mother inlaws quote above "... bit it was on NBC... " there really should be highly ethical, moral, and decent people producing the news, unfortunately though, they are in the minority.

The media is really weakening this country. It's a shame.

I was watching one of those mindless news reporter interviewing Mr. Biggs' son on the news.

He kept asking the young man how he felt about the lady that killed his father. The man answered that Jesus lives through him and that he felt no hatred towards her. Then the reporter guy again reminds him that this woman dragged his father and left him to die. Then asked him again, "You don't feel any type of hatred towards the woman. Again, the young man told im no, and then said he would actually like to meet her and tell her that God loves her and forgives her.

Just blew the reporter guy out of the water. He was prying ssooo hard to get some type of hateful word for the guy and he couldn't get it out of him.

I LOVED it. Actually left the reporter speechless.

The Washington COMPost??

Didn't you mean least credible? Or were you referring to the Washington TIMES who will actually report both sides of a story?

In 32+ years a trial judge, I have delt with reporters and watched them report on stuff I knew about a lot.

Yep, they make trail lawyers look like saints!!!

Not just individual media types either.

Example

A major news magazine did a big "oh aint it terrible" story about a major food chain doctoring the expiration date on their packages of meat.

After the store chain sued them and got ahold of their records, it turned out the store employees who were filmed changing the dates on the meat packages, were in fact employees of the news magazine who had got jobs at the food store specifically to do that story. Naturally no other media people reported that story at all.

More than a few times during a trial, I have watched the evening news about the trial and could recognize it only because the names were the same. , also

More than a few times I was interviewed and when I later saw the interview, I could hardly recognize what I was talking about after their editing and transposing questions and answers. After a few of those, I refused to be interviewed unless it was live---that rarely happens because they are then stuck with what a person actually says.

The list could go on and on... ... ...

Its not new either. About 1950 + or -, Harry Truman on this subject said (words not right but substance is)

"I pity the millions of citizens who read their daily news paper and listen to the radio news and thereby think they have some idea what is going on in the country"

The Washington Times is good.

Drudge Report is good too.

I like Rush too.

If the Mainstream Media makes you mad, get on the Internet and look up Drudge and the Washington Times. Dennis Prager is good too.

Vaughan:

You are a judge (lawyer) and I am a doctor, and we are naturally supposed to be at odds to some degree, but there is more truth to what you say in a short paragraph than in CNN's entire website (hope they don't sue me)!

Post more!

Scot:

I said the Post was arguably the most "credible" source.

By that, I mean they check their facts. They don't make-up crap. They are intelligent people.

I did NOT say that they don't have a lean toward the left.

But, as long as you know that, they are still a top source for truly in-depth reporting. It takes more than a minute to get through one of their articles.

Everybody has a lean, The Times, Rush, all of them. That's no reason (assuming they're intelligent) not to tune in.

Isn't that what makes this country great ?

If you know anyone who is a Police Officer just ask them about the news media getting anything right. I have several friends that are policemen and they tell incredible stories of media mis information.

Jasper TX ring a bell?

Which bell?

The one where a man was dragged to his death by a car?

Which one?

The one that happened about 6 weeks ago??

That's right - but this one was 3 black men dragging and killing a white man!!!!

Where is the news media??

Where is Jessie Jack$$$on??

Where are all of the people now who were so publicly outraged when it was 3 white men who dragged and killed a black man??

Go to WND. COM and get more balanced news than any other news source I've ever found. Newsmax.com ranks right up there, too.

Agree. Ever watch Foxnews? Not your local Fox affiliate, the cable Fox. O'Reilly factor is pretty good. I havent read his book, but I plan to.

I also liked Gordon Liddy, but alas, he's not on in the NY, Philly market anymore. I cant get him on the puter either. :(

Depends on the media

As an attorney who acts as General Counsel for several police unions I can tell you that our local newspaper has been enormously helpful in airing our concerns from everything from bad equipment, bad management and low pay- when we fought for modern tactical foot gear I actually got a call from the BBC in London wanting to know why our police couldn't wear comfortable footgear- I went on a popular BBC show by telephone with a simulcast on our local TV!!! Soon thereafter new chief, new shoes, new pay- it depends on the story and the integrity of the journalist- our area has 1. 3 million population from contiguous cities- we do not talk to a reporter TV or print unless they understand our message and get it right- if they do not they are cut-off and the story goes to someone else- as far as national media there is too often pressure to cater to the lowest common denominator and politicize news but in a free society we can choose what outlet to patronize- imagine a world without a free press and the exchange of ideas- oh yeah Afghanistan!!!!

My connection is 28. 8 at best, so trying to listen is aggrevating at best, but it worked last time I tried.

To a degree it does depend on the individual media/reporter etc, BUT and a BIG but, it depends more on what that reporter/station/network or what ever's agenda is.

In the case just described above, the media's agenda was to help the police dept. When that is their purpose, they can be very effective. But if their agenda to otherwise watch out!!

So often--actually most often, they will by, subtle methods that are not apparent unless you happen to know the other side of the story slant a story to suit their agenda.

Example;

A recent washington post story on a major corp. bankruptcy (not Enron, but name escapes me right now);

1. Reported that the corp. had given Republicans $200K (they just failed to mention that it had given Democrats a similiar amout)

2. Reported that Bush senior had received stock at one point worth $85K for a speach----and that a former speach writer for Clinton had turned a $100K investment in the corp into $18 million (they failed to mention that this guy was the present chairman of the Democratic central committee, and that he cashed in just before the word got out that the company was in trouble)

3. Reported that the company had obtained some very favorable treatment from congress (they somehow failed to mention that when the company was getting favorble treatment from congress, its founder and president was a golfing buddy of Clinton, and a social buddy of the chairman of the democratic central committee. )

The facts they reported were all true, but they were all such as to cast the republicans in a bad light; and there were similiar facts that would have cast the democrates in a similiar light or worse, and they just got left out. Unless you happen to pick up those fact elsewhere, the story would serve its purpose; make the republicans look like the bad guys.

Few groups bear more critical watching than the media because of rule number 1 in the media world; THE DO NOT REPORT on the misdeads and misconduct of each other. Thus they can and do get away with outrageous conduct.

Thanks Scot. you are THE man!!

I went on Liddy's site, and tried a lot of the listed stations, but came up blank. This was a few months back.

I have WTNT 570 AM on right now, and it's supposed to be Liddy, but I have Imus on??

Hummmm, well, if he's listed, I'm sure he'll be on there somewhere. I'll try a different station. My connection is great right now, but it says I'm hooked up @ 50. 6K.
