Everyone bashes lawyers...
But if you ask me, most reporters make lawyers look more like saints!! If they can't find a real story, they embellish, lie or downright write fiction!! I believe maybe 10% of what the news reports.
Here's a story for you: Several years ago, I was on my second cruise onboard USS John F Kennedy. We were pierside in Marseille, France for Christmas. I took some leave, went up to Chamonix to do some skiing with my (now) ex-wife. One morning the phone rings at 7AM in the B&B where we were staying and the owner comes in and says it's for me. I say merci, stumble out of bed to answer the phone and it's my mother in law. She says, "Oh, you're still there!" I answered, "where would I be?" She said she had just seen on the news that the Kennedy had left port and was headed to the middle east. Saw the ship on TV and everything. I reminded here about believing the news and she said, "well, it was NBC - not CNN. " Too funny. My unit had the B&B number to recall me if that happened, but nothing. Just to be sure, I called the hotel suite we (the unit) had rented in Marseilles. Hmmm... . calling the hotel suite of a bunch of Naval Aviators at 7 AM during a port call. I got pretty much the answer I figured I would and much grief when I returned to the ship - which was still securely tied to the pier and remained there for the entire planned port call.
Media? I have pretty much no respect for them at all. And it's sad, because there are some out there with journalistic integrity. It's just the rest of them ruin it for the good ones in my mind.
