I worked most of the day today with one that had poor cooling and temp split of at least 20 degrees. Here is what I found.

Ambients were right at 95 degrees, and the humidity was fairly high for us. The best it would do on high blower recirc was high 50's from the drivers side and low 80's from the passenger side. On low blower it would get within about 12 degrees right to left, and low 50's on the driver side. I wanted to see what it had in it so I pulled . 68 pounds of freon out the first time. That is just about 1 pound low, so I filled it with 1. 63 pounds. It was slightly better but still not acceptable. Low side was 20's and high side was 150's. Added two more ounces and still was not much different. Pulled it down again and it said only . 74 recovered, blew out the evaporator and accumulator and got just a little oil out of both. I was thinking the oil was trapped and was not allowing freon to get all the way through the evaporator. Put it back together and filled it with 12 oz cans so I would know exactly what was going in as the A/C machine did not give me a warm feeling on quantity in and out. The pressures were 35 and 200, and the outlets were all within four degrees and a low of 47 degrees on low blower. That is very respectable and beats the DC spec with 95-97 degree ambients. High blower was right at 50-51 degrees, again very respectable for the ambient and humidity.

It makes sense that there was a restriction of some kind on the low side. Time will tell if it returns.

Good going! That writeup was greate! Do you work for a dealership? Once again, good!

Ditto!!! I still want to know how to get you to be my mechanic in case I ever have any trouble.

I just enjoy trying to get to the bottom of things. And my neighbor (actually his wife, the now cool passenger) with the Mega Cab is pleased also!
