DCX had an employee event at the Palace of Auburn Hills yesterday, during which they rolled out several new products for us to see. I didn't go, as I was working O. T. , but I did hear they offica\ially rolled out the M-Cab. One of the features thay discussed was offering it in both 6ft and 8ft boxes. I'm sure this will be good news to some folks here who are interested in that vehicle, but want the long bed. I don't know if a Dually will be offered, but a 3/4 ton with the CTD is for sure. :)

Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. When when when when Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

The mega cab long bed, will probably be the basis for a cab and chassis 4500, 5500 series in the new future.

now that will be getting real cool.

I heard that with the mega cab and the 8 ft box that the wheelbase would be to long.

I dont know if its true or not. Came from a guy that works in R&D. He said short box only because they would use a Quad Cab long box frame for the mega cab short box.

They didnt want to spend the money for a new frame. Like I said just something else I have heard.

I sure hope they come with an 8 ft box. I get so tired of those pencil neck geeks in the R&D telling me what typ of truck I need. I need all the room to haul people but I also need that 8 ft box. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one out there. Just look at all the crew cab long box Fords running around... at least they are around Houston.

Well, since we seem to have established that the Mega/short is the same length and frame as the Quad/long, that would mean a Mega/long would have a 180" wheelbase, 8 inches longer than Ford's Super Duty Crew/long.

Considering the added load of the larger cab will be shared by the front end, they would have to use a 6000 pound front axle. Don't know if AAM could supply that. And there would be no reason to offer a single-rear-whel Mega/long because you'd still be limited to 9900 pounds GVWR - that would make the payload a joke. A Mega/long dually would have to approach 14,000 GVWR to match the payloads of the competition.

Yep, if they want to compete in the RV towing market, they need a long bed dually MegaCab with healthy GCWR and GVWR numbers for those of us who tow heavy 5th wheels.

Why would a mega cab long box have to be any bigger than the competitions crew cab long boxes? I traded a CC LB Chev and miss the extra space. I also want it as a srw, if I want payload, I'll fit 19. 5" wheels. I don't want to be locked into a drw MC lb.

I agree that they should quit pinching pennies and move these trucks up market. I want bucket seats, not this flat, hard, one choice front seat design. The roof mounted dvd player with integrated controls and wireless headphones, while frivolous, was a neat option in the Chev too.

We got the roof DVD in the wifes new ("Loser Cruiser" as her friends from work call it) Grand Caravan and it is awesome.....
