This may have been debated before but I couldn't find it.....

I test drove both of these trucks and could not tell much of a difference between the 2500 and 3500. The ride was virtually the same. The power was the same. You can get the same bells and whistles on both. The 3500 lists for about $1000 more which is insignificant on a $50K truck. Payload and towing are not really a concern for me (I just like the power!). What is yall's opinion? Why go one way or the other??

3500 will have the overload springs in the back for towing. Aside from that I don't believe there is any other differences. Your GVRW goes up 900lbs I think as well.

I have been looking. I will go with the SRW 3500 if I decide to get one. Even if you don't tow/haul today, you never know you might tomorrow. The payload capacity is really low on the 2500.

I have an 04 quad cab and come close to my GVWR with a bumper pull TT. .

Just traded an 03 2500 QC, got the 3500 MEGA SRW. There is a difference in the ride(better) but I attribute this to the longer wheel base as opposed to the weight classifications. I went with the 3500 to not loose weight ratings over the QC.

As an aside, salesman says 2500 MC are much more popular than 3500, was willing to deal more on the 3500 :)

IMHO the 3500 will keep a better resale value, especially if the buyer is not a TDR member (he will rely strictly on the GVWR sticker inside the door and believe there's something more than two stupid springs ;) ).

2500 vs 3500

I just bought the 3500. I went with the 3500 for the payload and towing

the payload on the 2500 4x4 is 1670 the 3500 is 2590 i think.

and it was only $900 more. Oo. and i love the truck :-laf

i went with 2500 instead of 3500...

reasons:

#1 - no roof lights

#2 - cheaper insurance for me

now if i had purchased an off lot truck, i would have accepted a 3500 [especially now that clear clearance lenses are avalable] and the OL springs would have been tossed long ago. .

I tend to agree here.
