Does anyone know about a megacab with a cummins and a 8ft bed?

I don't beleive DODGE makes one, but perhaps an aftermarket Compnay could/does. I would hate to turn one around!

Its about time dodge made a real truck. One with a real crew cab and a real bed and a diesel. THe other two companies have been doing it for a long time... . When is dodge gonna figure it out... .

Are you saying the Cummins is not a real diesel? Maybe I misunderstood your statement.

No, I believe he's saying that long bed crew cabs with diesel power have been available from Ford and GM for years.

in 05 they made about 1500 mega cabs 8ft with both hemi and cummins i was goin to buy till i drove it its really long and a pain to drive. they wont make it a dually and will no longer make it for an 06 model in srw. reason for this is cause goverment laws say the truck is to long for pepole with reg class 2 licence. at lease thats what i got from my dodge dealer i may have a pic of it.

It is my understanding that the factory where Dodge Ram's are assembled are limited to the frame length that is under the Mega/Short Bed or Quad/Long Bed combinations. The details I heard are sketchy but it had something to do with being able to make a turn somewhere in the factory and that they are already within millimeters of brushing a wall or support column with the current trucks.

I do agree that there should be a Mega/Long Bed combination and hope that Dodge has already prepared to move assembly of the next generation (2 years?) to a plant that can handle that truck.

I cant imagine that they would allow a facility to stop them from making a model. My guess would be that they would have to develop a new frame design. AND, probably safety testing that all cost many many dollars $$$$$$$. I believe, in my head thats the reason that they do not and have not made the Mega Cab Long bed configuration. I do not have any evidence to support this though. Just my . 02

NOT that I know everything... . ;)

BUT I am under the impression that not only was the MC not available in 2005... ... . Dodge doesnt even have a frame to support a 175" ish wheelbase... . much less have 1500 of them driving around  -BJ

I for one, would like to see that picture, as I understand it, there has never been a "MEGA" cab with an 8ft bed.

... and never will be IMHO. Maybe if the ever build a 4500 truck.

I did an image search and couldn't come up with anything. I searched for "Dodge mega cab long bed". So many people have been waiting for that truck that I would be surprised if they were able to sneak 1500 of them under our noses.

ill try to call my dealer that i deal with to find out if so it was converted but i remember it was an dark gray 05 mega. or if any one else would like to call its

i bought my truck in sept of 2005 thats when i saw it last

Back in the early 90's I wanted a Dodge crewcab diesel. Was told then that they were not and will never be available. While on a road trip(by car) during that time I saw 3 Dodge crewcab Cummins diesels all painted dull black coming down the road near Gary, Ind. As I had then, and still have, a 1980 Dodge crewcab I immediately recognized them. Upon inquiry I was told they were manuf. specials used for testing only and would not be produced. A big disappointment. Oo.

I did buy a 92 clubcab instead and then a 98 clubcab and finally a 04 4 door dually 4x4 CTD long bed. It was worth the wait for sure.

You may see pictures or real life examples of non produced vehicles but they may be like what I experienced.

A question... ... if aftermarket "truck stretchers" can make long trucks why can't the manufacturers do the same?? It probably is the potential volume sold and it is not worth the extra $$$ to tool up for them.

When I wanted to get a crewcab, I thought of stretching my truck, Called Bayer Automotive and they wanted around $15k to take a regular cab and make a crewcab. Obviously a truck in production from Dodge wouldn't cost that much to do. At least now you have what I would think would be a cheaper option, take a megacab shortbed, get the frame stretched and add a longbed on it.

Dodge probably did market analysis and determined there is a very small demand for a crew cab long bed. Around here you see a many more crew cab short bed Fords and GMs than crew cab long beds Fords and GMs. The truck is too long for many areas.

i think i read before that the way the factory is set up they can not support the fram turning a corner to get form one spot to another to resume building... .

i may be off. i do agree the cost to develop a frame and test is also high... im not saying you are wrong, im just saying that factory space isnt cheap...
