Megacab Drive Shaft Lubrication Procedure

Hi Guys,



I have a 2006 Megacab 2500. I have looked and looked and looked and dont understand what needs to be done to lubricate the front driveshaft. I have seen the picture that someone posted but still need help to make sure I am doing it properly. Any new more detailed pics or guidance would be appreciated.

If you look very carefully at the joint at the front of the transfer case you will see what looks like a ball bearing between the two joints. The shaft has to be in the right spot, and you have to look through the skid plate. If the shaft is new and clean you will see it. If it is dirty or muddy it will be much harder to see. To grease it you need a needle adapter for the grease gun. Snap-On has one in their catalog, but I would assume you can get one at any good parts house. It is not a needle that would pierce through a rubber boot, but a tube about 1/8 diameter with a taper end on it that fits the taper seat that is sealed with the ball bearing. There was a very good photo posted a couple of months ago.

Dealer Clueless

I went to the dealer today to have this done. I told them it was noted on a sticker and even showed it to them. Showed them in the owners manual and even told them I read about the procedure on TDR website. They put my truck on the lift and looked at the shaft and told me it does not need any grease because there are no Zirk fittings on it. They said Chysler keeps putting that sticker on the trucks even after they changed the design of the u-joints(Professional Blow-Off). Time to do it yourself once again. The sticker has a p/n for some Mopar Lithium grease. Is this the only one suitable or is there a substitute?
