Best Lift for Megacab - Pictures?

Mega Cab Guages

Not really, but I went to test drive a Megacab last Thursday. Love the cab space, but looking for an upgrade in capacity both inside and outside the cab.

The best I can do in "Mega" load carrying capacity is to go with a 2wd, and even then it is no better that my 01. 5 2500. Dealer says a DRW is 'on the way' and promised to call back on Friday with the details. No call.

Anybody know if a DRW Megacab is in the works, and if so, what will the GVWR and GCWR be?

If you feel the need to adhere to the "letter of the law" even the dually version of the mega will likely dissappoint you. I personally have pulled 16k lbs behind my mega 4x4 several times and don't see what the problem might be. The truck can do it no problem. The semantics of load ratings is something you have to decide on for yourself. Some follow them religiously based on a fear of getting caught by insurance companies or sometimes the state they live in. Others have been ignoring these numbers for years and have never had any problem.

I too have pulled loads way over ratings without a problem when I had my 98 2500 BUT my 03 Dually is awsome for towing in comparison to the old single rear wheel

I used to say I WILL NEVER OWN A TRUCK WITH TRAINING WHEELS :-laf

Now I say I WILL NEVER OWN ONE WITHOUT

DUALLY ALL THE WAY

Thanks KC. Looks like that thread answers my questions. Funny thing is that this dealer swore no dually option was even available, and when I went to DCs website with the salesman, DC confirmed it also - no Megacab DRW configuration option. Maybe they pulled it because they were too embarassed to offer an option that is just cosmetic.

What's the point of getting a Mega Cab DRW if all you have is 6' bed. I still think it's better to get a Quad Cab DRW, long bed. For most applications the Quad Cab is big enough. I value the long bed more than a huge cab. I know, to each his own.

You can certainly configure one at the Build and Price section of the Ram website... pick a 3500 Mega Cab, and the DRW option is definitely there. . under "Wheel Options" in the Exterior section.

KC - you're right. However if you go to the 3500 Specifications page, under rear axles, it shows a 11. 5 axle as standard, and 11. 5 axle for dual rear wheel vehicles as not available. Wonder what it means - this is what I was going by after the dealer said 'DRW not available'.

That salesman probably didn't understand that the DRW had to be ordered as a package under option code WLA... it's not "pieced" together with the components.

If you get a real trailer instead of a cabover camper then you don't need a long bed. I know, to each his own.
