Well as hard as I tried, Edmonds wouldn't sell me a truck. Neither would Dodge.com

I know what I saw on both the sticker and the invoice at the dealership.

On a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab 4x4 Laramie (6 speed) and a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 SRW Laramie Quad Cab (6 speed) there is more than what your are saying as the difference. A lot more.

Dealer was willing to sell at invoice for the QC but not the MC. Perhaps when there are more of them on the lots around the country that will change.

For the sake of augment (which I never intended to do) I looked at Edmonds, KBB and Dodge.com and they are all in line with what I saw at my local dealer.

So I do not know where the disconnect is. Doesn't matter. My original comment was and still is valid. As much as I would like a MC, for the price difference I will keep mine!

Just buy the damn ford

Thank you for your valued suggestion, but no thanks.

I guess you think I am trying to bash the Dodge, not true. I like it. I just think that compared to a QC the MC's price difference is to much to justify trading up just for the additional room.

Now if I was driving a regular cab 1st gen... .....

MABurns,

I just went to KBB.com and built a Quad Cab 3500srw Laramie spec'ed identical to my Mega Cab and the invoice price difference was 2,735 dollars. I know it's not cheap to move up to the Mega Cab but it's not the $6,000 you mentioned earlier.

Good Luck

MegaCab = MegaBig

I like the room in the MegaCab, but not the length and size. I sold my F250 for my CTD mainly because they are the same size as the 1/2 tons. Unlike Ford.

If you are only on the highway towing, then yes I would buy one. But in the city or alot of off road, the Quad is the way to go.

Try this, go to dealer of choice ask for the FLEET manager they do not come out on the floor and try to sale. . You have to know about them and ask. They will give you your best deal most of the time. . They focus on volume as they make their kick backs from the manufacturer incentives not the sticker of the vehix. . I did not have to go this route since I have 2 % under invoice by affiliation. In addition ask about their business link . More savings. .

I do not think so. I was comparing two trucks that with the exception of color where exactly the same. Apples to apples. Invoice price difference was over $6000.

Sure I could get a Mega Cab in SLT trim with no options for the same price as a Laramie QC but that isn't what I want to do.

I think Dodge'll get it right in a few more years. Ford is WAY overpriced. I think Dodge just might be the ace in hole. They're getting my business on a quad cab this year. If the quad cab does well, then they'll probably offer a longbed, dually (with REAL fender flares like on the quad cab models), with the same payload as Ford's longbed, crewcab, dually.

Give 'em time... maybe they'll finall sell what we want at a reasonable price. Oo.

From what I have seen there is no demand for the mega cab. Both the local dealerships have several mega cabs which have been sitting on there lots for a while some for almost two months.

Check e-bay, there are new mega cabs on there going for the mid to upper thirties and they have window stickers in the mid to upper forties

I think you're just seeing the effect of the season. The MegaCab will sell well, but with high fuel prices, people spending their money on gifts and property taxes it's hard to fit in a $600/month payment.

Once people get their bonus checks next year, the weather is nicer for camping/boatin/etc. people will find the "need" to get a MegaCab.

I also think the Mega is not too big. With the price of #2 I doubt there will be a shortage. Local dealer has several and he is way low on priority. Doc
