First of all, let me start by saying that my truck is running great (knock on wood!) Just looking for opinions and real world experiences on this subject. Have seen both Air Filters in person and have read Joe D. 's article in issue #37 on the MegaCannon, albeit increase in HP was shown on a very high HP truck. Scotty Air II appears to have a smaller filter surface. My interest is in lower EGT's and supplying more air, not that I have an EGT problem, but cooler and more air is better IMHO and if I gained any performance, I certainly would take it. So... ... ... . is it better to have more air (heated though) from the MegaCannon or is it better to have less air (I assume, given the filter surface of the Scotty) that is cooler?

Thanks in advance,

Roger

PS. Please note that I already have an inbox AFE with the boot removed.

I just had my Scotty 2 & AFE off to clean the filter a week and had put my old RE-0880 K&N on open under the hood. Even in the temps here right now (teens) I was getting 175-200 deg hotter EGTs empty cruisong down the freeway. My intake air temps was up 30-45 deg depending on my speed. Cool down time was alot longer, I couldn't wait to get the Scotty 2 backl on.

I am running my weather front on and no fans. And also Larry B's turbo shield.

For me the Cooler air out weights the extra filter material

scotty II

I agree with drawson. I have both and have found that the Scotty II ( with the cowl hole) gives better EGTS and quicker cool down times. The MegaCannon is a great filter too but feel that cooler EGTS fitts better in my plan for longevity and reliablity.

The Megacannon does sound cool though, line a jet engine winding up. I noticed no huge diference in performance between the two other than if I really have to "get on it" with the scotty the temps climb little slower and not as high.
