Since friday the old blue monster has been undergoing surgery for the classic "rusty roof syndrome". :( Damn rust belt.

She's been bubbly for a while, but the steady heavy rains the past few weeks made her pop open above the driver's side. There was a huge opening into the second layer which had a 2 inch hole. Cancer was running wild.

Pulled the headliner thursday to find the inner layer intact.

Windshield came out friday (was cracked and covered by insurance) and a friend of my son's worked on it all day saturday and a few hours last night.

Surgery is now complete.

Today the "paint therapist" is supposed to remove the scar tissue and give it a shot of paint. Probably won't get finished today.

Then the new winshield goes in and I can driver her once more by thursday.

In the meantime I'm driving my son's 05 with the TST powermax box (set at 5). I could easily get spoiled.

I gave up on mine and found a new cab to put on. I am in the process of painting it now and will put it on this fall when I have a little more time. I still can't figure out what makes the cabs so vulnerable, but I am quite excited about a brand new truck. I will post pics of the project when I'm sure I will complete it.

Guess I'm lucky. I've only got one seam on the exterior of the truck showing a slight trace of rust. The frame needs to be stripped and Rustoleum'd in some spots. They didn't do a very good job of rust-proofing these older trucks. Mine was never near salt and was garaged when it wasn't in Arizona.

Chemo

Did you have to take the usual post surgery chemo? If I have a choice I pick Molson XXX. (Sometimes this helps during surgery)

I think my surgeon specified alternating between Amstel Light and Kettel 1. He specified garlic stuffed olives with the K1.

Well, the painter never showed yesterday so my son sprayed it with a sealing primer that can be cheesed over later. Can't get the windshield put in until tomorrow. Maybe the painter will show today and get it doughed and sprayed...

Until then I guess I'm stuck driving the 05 :{
