Why doesn't DC put the MB (5 cylinder) diesel in the Ram 1500 and leave the Cummins in the 2500 and 3500?

My wife drives a 1981 300D. Non turbo. This ol Benz is bullet proof. Only has 180000 miles.
I do like the way the turbo models come off the line faster. One night I was going to the emergency room at 4am. I looked down at the speedo that only reads 85mph and it was pointing strait down. Probably was near 105 mph.

The Cummins IS IN the Ram 25/3500 for seven more years. The 300TD engine is a beaut, but slooooooooow on accelertion. Built to last, but not to win races. I doubt the general public is ready for that kind of truck yet, no matter how good. You know, no "instant gratification". Too bad for all of us.

my 83, 300sd has 271000 miles and everything is original,including the lift pump and still runs beautifully. true it is not an engine made or designed to win races but i have made quite a few Ricer owners to think twice before they assume "oh well this a diesel and so it is slow" and every time i beat a honda owner specially when climbing i love the look on their faces,they also make the same mistake about my Ram with mighty cummins and thats when i wish i could put out some smoke from the exhaust. #ad

god i hate hondas.

I had one of those mini benz's, the 190D. It was a 5 speed, so it wasnt too bad in acceleration. 80 MPH and 40+ MPG's isnt no problem with me either. It had 250,000 miles on it when I sold it.
My parents had the 240D. What a dog. They were afraid to pull out in traffic.
