Well it looks like the only factory that did the sealant is Lago Alberto in Mexico. Saltillo in Mexico and St. Louis in USA did not do the sealant? Still wonder why? My truck was built in the Lago Alberto plant and the quality is first class (of course the build quality of my 2000 that was built in St. Louis was also first class just no sealant). Of the three assembly plants Lago was shut down after the last of the 2002's were built. I think Lago was the oldest DC plant in Mexico, maybe since they were not as automated they did the sealant???

My 2001:

--Built in Santillo, Mexico

--Feb 22, 2000 rolled off assy line

--No undercoat

--Nothing on back panel

--Nothing on floor

--Has padded silver-coated sound deadener

Vaughn

Mine has the undercoating as well. They also shot the rear wheel wells with the same stuff (since put the liners in). I'll check again but I thought my bed floor had the coating too.

How many plants in Mexico ???

PitBull,, I am confused about how many factory's there are in Mexico. I know of the Saltilo plant and the Largo plant but my truck was made in MexicoCity,Mexico. Is the Largo plant in MexicoCity? If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. TIA

By the way my rear wheel well's don't have the linner's but they are coated with some kind of tuff paint, it's nothing like what is under the cab but they are coated with something from the factory. My bed has nothing under it , but I do have the standard black sound deadening mat on the firewall and the silver heat reflector in the engine area;nothing on the bottom of the hood though.

When I did a search on DC plants in Mexico I just came up with Saltilo (which is the newest) and Lago (which was the oldest). I will have to check my rear wheel liners. I do know that they did something because I couldn't tell that the liners were deleted, compared with my 2000.

This is what I found. I know it is not current information but I don't think they built a new assembly plant in Mexico City in the last couple of years. I did find a reference to a plant located in the suburbs of Mexico City but it did not reference a name? I think the Mexico City Plant is what they call Lago Alberto??? Does anyone know for sure?

Body Styles Regular Cab, Club Cab & Quad Cab:

Assembly Plant Regular Cab: Dodge City (Warren, Michigan)& Lago Alberto, Mexico; Club Cab: Saltillo & Lago Alberto, Mexico & St. Louis, Missouri; Quad Cab: St. Louis, Missouri & Saltillo, Mexico

Pit Bull, I'm not sure if the rear wheel wells on my 2002 were sprayed or not, but in any case, the missing liners were very obvious, since you could clearly see the frame and suspension. That was not the case on my 2000, or on my 2002 after I payed DC to get the liners and installed them myself.

PitBull, I did a lot of looking before I ordered my truck and looked at a lot of window build stickers. Of the trucks made in Mexico there were the Saltilo and the Lago Alberto plants, but all of the trucks that I saw were quad cabs( including the Missouri and Michigan trucks ). My truck is a regular cab and was made in MexicoCity, Mexico. There might be some truth to regular cabs and quad cabs being made at certain plants.

Where are you finding the info on the plants and what they build?

You have got my intrest up and I would like to know more. Thanks for all of your post's,Thomas

I just used the www.google search engine and did some searches. Let me know what you find. Mine is also a regular cab. Mine was made the middle of June 2002, I've been trying to figure out when they closed the Lago Alberto plant. I know that they don't make trucks there after the 2002's were completed.

PitBull , Your right. In my VIN. No. the 11th diget is an " M " which means Lago Alberto Assembly. I have seen other trucks with Lago Alberto on the window sticker;why would some say Mexico City and others say Lago Alberto ?

Since you have a 2002 truck see if your engine code on the VIN matches what is on the chart. My eighth digit is a " C " and that indicates a 1994 to 1997 CTD. According to the chart it should read a # 7 in the eighth digit. Everything else is correct to the chart and my VIN # . Thanks,Thomas

I wonder if the truck being a Regular Cab means that they are made with the Cab Chassis trucks? I was told that the Cab Chassis trucks were made at a different plant but I just thought it was a bunch of B. S. at the time. Maybe that would explain it????Do you know where the Cab Chassis trucks are made?

Mine also has a "C" in the eighth digit. Maybe they installed the P700 injection pump by mistake instead of the VP44 :D

I'll see what I can find out.

If only they would have offerd a 24 valve motor w/the P700 pump,I would have one!Wishful thinking... ...

Keep on searching about the Reg. Cab and Cab Chassis stuff... .

Check your PM's I replied about the Springs. Thanks, Thomas

I did not find anything on the internet but a good way to check would be to look at some VIN's on the Cab/Chassis trucks at the dealer. See what letter is in the 11th position. I bet its an "M".

Sorry, I didn't complete the link! From the above link, go to "company at a glance" then to "worlwide locations". There are links when you click on North America to all the plants in Mexico.

Thanks Mike, I saw that yesterday and you are right it is under construction, so no information. I did bookmark it so I can check back later and see if they have added the information. One interesting fact is that the last change on that site for the Lago Alberto plant was 6/17/2002. I'm wondering if that is when the plant closed and they moved production to Salito?
