On my window sticker it states "Assembly Point/Port of Entry:Mexico City, Mexico". Maybe it has something to do with how the trucks are shipped out ( by boat through the gulf or by railroad ) ? I thought that mine was going to be sent by boat and into the port in New Orleans or the Port of Pensacola in Florida but it was sent out by CSX Rail Road to Lawrenceville, Georgia and than shipped by truck to Florida.

If the Lago Alberto plant and the Mexico City plant are the same maybe it is the method of shipping that determines what is on the sticker.

Also, it seems to me that all the Lago Alberto trucks and the Mexico City trucks are getting the undercoat or sealant and the Saltilo and Missouri/Dodge City trucks don't. If the two (Lago/Mexico City) are one and the same that would explain why they both do the undercoat treatment. Just my $. 02 worth.

Lago Alberto is a suburb of Mexico City they are the same. But I bet that it is closed by now since they quit making the 2002's. They also closed an engine plant in that area. Labor must be cheaper in North Mexico where Salito is located.

Undercoating

Gary,

I agree... I had an 01. 5 ETC auto that was built in Saltillo and had nothing.

I took advantage of the rebates this year and upgraded to an ETC/DEE and I love it!

Mine was built in Lago Alberto and has the sprayed on undercoating as well as very detailed and complete painting on the frame and undercarrige... much better than the 01. 5 I had.

Well if anyone else cares I got this response back from Dodge on when the Lago Alberto assembly plant closed. I just wanted to know because my truck was made 6/12/02 and I was hoping it was not one of the last ones made using spare parts that were left over :) I feel better now that I know they made them for over 2 more months.

Mr. Latimer,

Thank you for contacting DaimlerChrysler regarding the closing of the Lago Assembly Plant. The plant stopped production sometime in late August/early September of this year. I do not have any exact dates for you.

Thanks for your email.

My new 2002 (200 miles) has the cab under coated but not the bed, OK so I will under coat the bed. The silver insulation on the firewall is only in the area or the turbo exhaust and is for heat protection. Turbo's get very hot. My truck does have about 3/8 inch insulation on the firewall for sound deadning. I will install more sound proofing in the near future. Most of my sound comes from the engine.
