Mice

I know there are some car collectors in this bunch who must have the secrets for keeping mice out of their vehicles. What products have you used that work the best. We have some mice up here that eat everything from rubber to anything else you can think of. What works for cars in storage and occasional drivers? Thanks.

Sure Fire Solutions, for keeping mice out of cars:



1. Get a cat.



2. Replace cat with cat that likes cars.



3. Get some rats.



4. D-Con. The dead mice are sometimes a problem.



5. Submerge car in water



6. Suspend car by greased cables with "rat-stoppers".



7. Fill car with mothballs



8. Hope

You'll definately want to keep the exhaust plugged with something while stored. I had a buddy how stored his vintage Harley for the winter. When he tried to start it as weather permitted, he bent a valve stem. Seems a little mouse decided his straight piped Harley had perfect tunnels with perfect mouse sized dens at the top. He had packed it with acorns and all kinds of crap. The valve was in the open position all winter with the mice enjoying their new home and it was blocked open by all the mouse collectibles when the motor was turned over. I can imagine headers and glass packs would be like a subway system to a mouse. A cat is your best option. Even a declawed cat can catch mice. Mine does. I despise the little ******* but he does a good job of keeping the critters out.

Bounce clothes drier cloths under the hood and in the cab work 100% at keeping mice out.

Get one of those and you get rid of the mice and get a bigger snake.

I have both snakes and cats, works pretty well

I have used both moth balls and moth cakes. The moth cakes smell a little better IMO. I just air the vehicle out real good when I go back to driving it.



I have had squirrels go into a Chevy air cleaner, via the intake tube, eat their nuts there and leave. Ungrateful little basta*#s. They also decided the spark plug wires would make good eatin'. #@$%!



I also had them go inside a Chevy-6 valve cover and make a heck of a mess with nut shells. Varmints!

Get a mayonaise lid and fill with Coke(soda water) a mouse's system is such that he can't poot off the gas like a human. Hence he blows up. I do this in the winter in the garage. Bad thing is no telling where they die at, same as poison and no worries about kids or pets.

Seriously, get rid of any food they might be eating and DECON them.

Moth balls, rrausch? :-laf I hope you don't smell like the little old lady I kept getting forced to sit behind at church when I was younger.

A few years back, I bought an 85 Z-28 Camaro with a built 350 in it, and ended up having to rip the interior out, the previous owner had it stored with moth balls, and they would not air out. Moth cakes air out easier? I'll have to keep that in mind... .

Cats? Snakes? I hate both... . for good reason.

I tolerate the neighbor's mouse-catching cats in my yard, though. (she tolerates my straight pipes) My house is mouse-free thanks to them. Although they run when they see (or hear) me coming home. That's funny, I never have made a threatening move at any of them.

Yeah Briar, I remember those little old ladies too. Funny, now that they're gone I miss 'em.



I also use an electronic noise machine to keep mice & squirrels out of my storage barn.
