Michelin 315's

Hey Guys!!!

I have a friend with an H2. He absolutely hates the BFG's. Well Michelin is s'posed to be coming out with some 315 street tires. Don't know the load range yet BUT I am a Michelin man and can't wait. If they are E range How many people on here will Buy then????

I'd would probably buy them. I have had good luck with the Michelin's. Hopefully they will come out with a little more aggressive tread.

gsbrockman; Just because you work for S & S tire stores, one of the largest Good (for nothing) Year dealers in KY, that competes with Michelin, I don't suppose you do love Michelin tires because if everyone bought Michelin they would not have to buy tires so often as they do with GY.

I have used most every brand tire available in the last 50 years and have found Michelin to be the most dependable with less problems, wear longer, better ride and are safer/superior than any other brand. I have never had one to blow out or come apart because of a tire defect on my personal vehicle or on the big rigs I drove for 30 years.



I have not ever had any decent service from Good Year. They wear out fast, cup out bad, sidewalls come apart, give poor service and are one of the worse quality tires on the market. They spend mega-bucks on advertizing to try convince people to waste money on thier sorry products.

I rotate and check preesues often, keep in proper alighnment but still have nothing but problems with GY!



Everyone should buy whatever brand they like, but if you want the best, get MICHELIN.

Trent is right Michelin owns BFG, maybe that's why they are good tires also...

Michelin and BF Goodrich OK

My wife and I hate the ride on the BF Goodrich's on our 03. I'ts the tread pattern and low prifile design, not necessarily the tire brand. Now I'm a Michelin guy and have superior results with them for the past 30 years. The Goodrichs hydroplane too easy. They are wearing good. We have over 31K miles on them and they aren't even showing wear.



I would really prefer a more aggresive tread in a 265/75-17 or 285/75-17 than a 315. I don't like low profile tires: The contribute to some of the rough ride. We'll wear out the one's on there now and will go with aforementioned (hopefully) sized tire.



BTW, I have a friend who is a Michelin basher and says I've just been lucky to have good results w/ Michelin all these years. He says Michelin produces lower qality tires on OEM applications. I easily get over 80K miles on mine.



I have almost 50K miles on my 02 dually. I heve the same size tire on my tripple axle Travel Supreme (Goodyears) that I'm gonna swap over after I go over 60K miles on my truck.



Finally, I believe tire discussions are like oil, transmission, ring/pinion sizes, 1st 2d 3d gen trucks etc. Everyone is right and no one is wrong.

That is why I started the post. Sorry I upset some of you.

But I ike Michelin.

I purchased a 1998 Dodge 2500 CTD 4x4 in December 1997. It was equipped with LT245/75R16 Michelin LTX M/S's. They were worn out in 29k miles... . I mean to the TWI's. Oil & filter was changed every 4,000 miles and the tire rotations were done at the same time; air pressure was checked monthly. With 2" of snow, 4wd had to be engaged to take off on level ground. I subsequently purchased a 2000 Dodge 2500 Quad Cab CTD and immediately yanked off the LT265/75R16 Michelin LTX A/S's within 400 miles (didn't even give them a chance as I never received that little "warm, fuzzy feeling" with my first Michelins)... I purchased some LT285/75R16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. The Bridgestones would wear and last twice longer than the Michelins any day of the week... just my personal obsevation. The newer A/T REVO's are even better.

Without proper and routine maintenance, Michelins will wear unevenly, chop, and blow out due to a puncture, just like any other brand of tire. Just because it says "Michelin" on the sidewall does not make it an all-mighty God tire. As a matter of fact, I will agree with you on the Goodyear remark. . Goodyear is in some serious financial troubles right now. S&S Tire is Bridgestone/Firestone's largest distributor and wholesaler. Dollar for dollar, BS/FS is the best tire out there. Contrary to what others think, Michelin does provide adjustment forms and their tires do fail. That's what I love about America... I can still state my opinion and say Michelins still suck.

I have an 03 dodge, It came with michelin's on it. 32000 miles on them and they are all bald. They wore even all the way down. I rotate them every oil change 5000 miles. 265 / 70 17 R. WHAT NOW?

Funny, my 03 came with Michelin's too but I've still got 50% of my tread left after 30K and I'm running a TST!.

On a truck this heavy thats excellent tread ware.

Tires

I had the Michelin's on my 01 and I thought they wore great and had good traction in the summer. However, 2 days after the first snowfall they went goodbye.



They really are not good in the snow. I have a set of 4 with 7,000 miles on them in the attic, they will be trailer tires.



If you are looking for a long life, "hard" tire, they are great. But they just are not for the snow.
