I am thinking of going with Michelin XPS tires, 235/85/16. These are commercial grade recapable tires. They are not mud and snow tires. My question is has anyone used these tires and how were they in the winter time? How would you discribed them in snow conditions? How do they wear overall? How many miles did you get out of a set? Would you buy them again? Any input would be great?

Thanks

Dennis

Pit Bull,

All I could tell you is it is one HEAVY tire, for now... ... Just got them on about two months ago, and am very pleased... Two ply steel side wall , makes for a rugged tire..... Quiet and ride quality is excellent..... I'm running the RIB... ... Traction in the snow with the tire I'm running, for get it ..... I have a separate set of rims and tires I'll be running in winter... ... Not a cheap tire by no means... ... Michelins are really good choice in tires, IMHO... .

Pit Bull,

I've run through several sets of the XPS Traction on my F250 4x4 utility bed work truck. Not one problem with them, averaging 30 to 35,000 per set. The truck is at or above GVWR daily so the tire mileage isn't that great but they are a good all around tire for a heavy truck. They actually do quite well on the snow covered hiways of the Sierras and are quiet running on the dry pavement.

XPS

I have them only on the rear wheels, this is my second set. First set went 80,000 km and had at least another 10-20 left on them when they were replaced. Have had absolutly no problems with them, fairly good in the winter with an empty truck, add about 1,000lbs cargo and they will go anywhere.

I guess I would need to go to the XPS Traction, since I do need snow tire capability. Would you mix these with the Michelin LTX/MS. They measure the same 32" and 654 revolutions per mile. I was going to put these on the front and the LTX/MS on the back, to start. ???

Pit Bull,

I would go with the XPS Traction all the way around myself. IMHO they are one of the best tires out there and have a little more aggressive lug than the M&S. Plus the XPS Traction seems to handle heavy weight with less sidewall flex than the M&S. I see you have a dually so that would not be much of a problem but that would enable you to rotate without mixing the rears.

Scott - go to tirerack.com they have all of the warranty information on the tires.

I just wanted to get this clear that people prefer Michelin XPS Traction LT235/85R16/E tire better than the Michelin LTX M/S Commercial. Does that go for Toyo M55 also?

my LTX's went 25k and were shot . . replaced with XPS's and got 60k before I wrecked the rig

new rig LTX's went 38K and now have XPS's traction again and I live in snow country and must have a traction tread. . that is the only tire I will run on my Dually !!
