My park brake is no longer effective after much adjusting. I think the cable broke on me now. The park brake on my 01. 5 with rear disk brake has never been really effective. The odd time I have driven with the park brake on not without noticeing it. The torque of the Cummins easily over powers the brake.
I have used a remote Mico Lock unit in the past. This unit used a toggle switch mounted in the cab which had wires running to the valve unit mounted in the brake line. This model is no longer available. There several other models that are manual but where the brake line runs is not at all convenient to use. For those not familiar with a Mico Lock it is similar to a line lock used for holding the front wheels on the line at a drag strip.
I was on the Jegs site and there are several line lock models available at 1/4 the cost of a Mico lock. Would a Hurst line lock or something similar work with any reliablity?
Any opinions or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Stan
