when i surf the net, i usually have 5-6 windows open, and when i am reading forums, i pick what i want by right clicking on it and telling it to open in a new window. what pisses me off about that is now it opens it in a 1/4 sized window, when 2 hours ago it opened in a almost maximized window. netscape is smart enough to learn to open in new window in maximizes if you do it a few times. IE seems to not know how to do that. :( [netscape crashes way more often on my system than IE does so that is why i do not use it]

does anyone here know how to set the IE to always open new windows maximized?

thanks

I've been trying to figure this out for at least a couple years (since IE 5 came out), and I don't think it's possible. Going back to Netscape was my first thought, but over the past couple years Netscape has managed to get rid of everything that was good about their browsers and keep only the bad parts so that didn't work out. I guess you just have to maximize the new window when it first appears, every time you open a new window.

I'm not sure what version I have of IE I have. I think it's the newest.

Mine have always opened with the full screen.

What I dont like is, when you open a bunch of windows, they collapse into one with a number next to it whenever you go over 3 or 4 opened windows.

In my old computer, they just lined up next to each other.

I wish there was a way to change this.....

From what I understand you can't get a new window to open maximized, but you can get the next best thing: open a single instance of IE then position the window to one of the upper corners and drag the opposite corner down and out to the maximum size of your screen. Now close it and open it again, it should snap to the position you set with the first one. From now on when you open any IE window it should be sized to the first one.

If you enlarge the browser window by pulling at the lower right corner of the window it will stay where you adjusted it until you shutdown even if you close the window. After restart it will need to be tugged on again.

The patriot,

You can download "Powertoys for Windows XP" It has an option to change when or at what number windows groups the taskbar icons.

Just click here. I already found it for you.

Just download the Tweak UI program, install it and run it.

Power toys is a suite of tools put out by M$ that can mangle a windows install if you aren't carefull in its use.

But there is a lot of hidden adjustments that you can do with power toys in windows.
