My engine stumbled the other day right after staring it and taking off down the road. No codes flashed up and it cleared up itself. That is the 1st time I had that occur.

I just saw this thread and wonder if this is what mine is doing.

Hope someone finds the answer and posts it.

My pump is original, 86k miles, and holds steady at 14 psi, drops to 9 psi at wot. It did not faulter when the engine stumbled????????

thanks for the reply. I am assuming you changed the TPS out and are still experiencing the problem without the CE light coming on - is that right?? Was it an expensive component and does the dealer know it as a TPS or an APPS??? I am getting ready for a trip with the fifth wheel and am not looking forward to the jerking around while towing a load. :( As Mpagnucco says, this is a crowded lifeboat!!!!!!

depressing

If I was sure it was the injection pump I would replace it at my own expense just not to deal with the people at the dealers that are paid to make up reasons not to do warrantee work that we have already paid for.

I need A solution.

My truck skipped between 2000 & 2500 rpm for several months. I started a couple of threads, one about the failure and one about the 25%increase in fuel mileage after repair. After the lift pump was replaced (after total failure), the skip has not re-occurred. My check engine light never came on when it skipped. My mileage is now at 20 highway and 18. 5 to 19 city. Never been that high since new.

Kent,

You wouldn't happen to still have the apps part # handy would you? I am just about ready to start throwing parts at the problem to try to fix it. Mine is getting to the point that I can hardly accelerate with no load running down the highway.

Just from reading the thread I think you all are having the same type of problems for different reasons. Sounds like it is all about fuel delivery. Most of you have gauges, I guess I would ask what changed from the baseline readings before the problem started? It also sounds like some of you fixed your problem with new lift pumps and VP44's while others have replaced these with no improvement, which leads back to same type of problems for different reasons. Fuel delivery, mostly under heavy load at the HP and torque peak. Sounds like the VP44 and lift pump aren't pushing enough fuel at the highend under heavy load. Also sounds like that after these components are pushed the problems start to showup without a heavy load. Wish I was smarter and new the answer to help solve this riddle. Good luck

Ditto on the request for part numbers if you still have them around.

You mentioned your fuel mileage fell off significantly and I was wondering if that occurred over time or all at once? Did you go back with a stock lift pump in the same location? Difficult to get at? Part #s?

I got good mileage for only a short time. The computer was re-flashed as a result of the recall about 6 months after I bought it. I was just breaking in and starting to get good mileage. The reflash caused the mileage to drop off. After complaining they re-flashed it again, with what I don't know, and I started getting better. Only once did I ever get 20 mpg. (one trip only). I did get around 18 on the highway, but it did drop off gradually over about 1 year and has been low for the last 1. 5 to 2 years. The pump was replaced with a factory pump by a Dodge dealer. No mods have been done to my truck. My mileage immediately went to 20 on the highway and avg. 18. 5 in the city/freeway driving.

I have never consistantly got this good of mileage.

Part #'s

I have been away from the Computer for the holidays. I looked for the Part #'s and I am sorry but I threw away the papers and the old part. After 2000 miles of driving over the holiday I am still Sha Sha Shaken down the road.
