Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Nah, don't worry about following up with Cummins. It ain't a big deal, I just wondered why this guy was touting it as such a big add on. I guess that's why! For him it was! Poor fella. didn't know he could get all that for about $500.

On the polisher. It's a snap-on? Dual Action? if it's stubby, and has a red dial on the back that goes from 0 to 6, it's actually a Porter Cable 7424. I'd almost bet money that's what it is. Great Polisher. Do you have a flexible backing plate to attach to it, or only have the black one with the white polishing pad attached to it? Does it look like the one below?

First thing you need to do is get a flexible backing plate, and about three pads (cutting, polishing, finishing). Then get a good compound, polish and LSP (last step product... usually some form of sealant or wax). Only other thing you need is a clay bar, and some good 100% cotton or microfiber towels. Actually, the first thing you need to do is bring your truck and machine to my house. I've got plenty of clay, pads, product (polishes, compounds, lsp's), and towels. I'll show you each technique (claying, polishing, etc), and let you do the work. I'll detail the inside for you while you learn on the exterior. A DA is a really safe way to correct paint problems, pad/product selection and techniqe are the key to really make it look great.

Lets set a date, I'm all pumped up. Black looks awesome when it's swirl free and polished up!

The one I have is similar to this one. (model #etb1570) It's not dual action. The pads I have are foam eggshell looking pads. I'm up for a date if your willing to help. The next two weekends I'm busy with the girls birthday parties. Should be free after that.

Backing plate is flexable. Seems like I have a seen a Porta Cable or Dewalt one that looks just like it. The box says made for Snap-On tools, but no other names are given

Hoochie Momma! That thar is a rotary. You gotta be real careful with that guy Anthony. Keep it below 1400RPM's and keep it moving. I've got a dewalt one. It's a shooo 'nuff serious tool. Be careful and you'll be fine. I'll help you with it. :)

We'll try for a couple of weeks out then.

Ford/Cummins Complete!

Hey guys - my buddy Darrin has finally got his conversion complete, and I wanted to get on here and post a couple of pictures. I'll have him take more in the daylight of the engine and the whole truck.

This thing is running excellent. It's a '98 model 12V with a 180HP pump. We've put in PDR 370s, #4 plate, 3,000 GSK, and an HTB2 62/14. I've got the timing cranked up on it, but it's really running too good to mess with it. It's got a fresh NV4500 behind it.

This is in a 2001 Ford F350 Crew Cab 2WD.

He just got a new high-speed internet service provider, and I think he'll be joining on here pretty soon. He's definitely hooked. :D

Looks good. If possible, keep us posted on how the truck performs with the 370 and 180HP pump combo. I am considering new injectors but want to avoid bucking, surging and extreme EGT. I will be using a Super 40/35 hybrid turbo.

I gotta tell you - this is one of the smoothest running trucks I've ever been in. There is no stumble whatsoever with the 370s and the 180 pump. The throttle is extremely touchy as expected, but I was used to it after the 3rd or 4th take-off. I'm sure Darrin's figured out how to drive it by now without any embarrassing moments. :-laf

As far as the EGTs, I stood in it up until about 105 MPH and never exceeded 1250* - AMAZING for a truck that runs that good.

Scott - he ordered the kit that you recommended and he said everything went great. He said it was well worth the price.

I think for the most part all the bugs are worked out of the truck. He still has some tweaking left for the cruise control, but that's all as far as I know.

AndyMan,

Who stuffed that ballot box? I thought Chicago was the home of vote early and vote often, not the heart of the Volunteer State!

When was the last time you bought a tank of #2?

Paul, I think I saw you last Sunday afternoon on 231 Heading toward the Boro from Christiana. I looked over and that shiney clean truck and thought dang, who's rig is that, then I realized I already knew who it was!!
