Nah, don't worry about following up with Cummins. It ain't a big deal, I just wondered why this guy was touting it as such a big add on. I guess that's why! For him it was! Poor fella. didn't know he could get all that for about $500.
On the polisher. It's a snap-on? Dual Action? if it's stubby, and has a red dial on the back that goes from 0 to 6, it's actually a Porter Cable 7424. I'd almost bet money that's what it is. Great Polisher. Do you have a flexible backing plate to attach to it, or only have the black one with the white polishing pad attached to it? Does it look like the one below?
First thing you need to do is get a flexible backing plate, and about three pads (cutting, polishing, finishing). Then get a good compound, polish and LSP (last step product... usually some form of sealant or wax). Only other thing you need is a clay bar, and some good 100% cotton or microfiber towels. Actually, the first thing you need to do is bring your truck and machine to my house. I've got plenty of clay, pads, product (polishes, compounds, lsp's), and towels. I'll show you each technique (claying, polishing, etc), and let you do the work. I'll detail the inside for you while you learn on the exterior. A DA is a really safe way to correct paint problems, pad/product selection and techniqe are the key to really make it look great.
Lets set a date, I'm all pumped up. Black looks awesome when it's swirl free and polished up!
