Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Here's my take on water/meth injection: Good stuff, but very easy to push a head gasket past its limits. Meacham has water/meth. Snow's setup is the one to buy. I'm going to wait until I've studded and fire-ringed the head before I try water.

Advanced timing/high boost/PLUS water adds up to get the gasket.

Not running the timing box or keeping the boost a few #'s lower might help.

Get your gauges in FIRST THING! Or buy a spare 24v motor while you're buying.

My next BOMB for both trucks is electric fans courtesy of Ivy Bluff Auto Salvage.

OH, and I think the January indoor pull is a go--'posed to have some serious $$$ there. Might be a biggun. Oo.

Hey Dale,

Welcome to the group!!

I sincerely appreciate your service, and hope you can hook up with us upon your safe arrival home!

Hans,

Didn't mean to cuss nobody, I haven't heard the story. Maybe a link to the post? Like I said, it was over a year ago and Darin was having trouble keeping up with demand at the time, deliveries were running 2-4 weeks and Piers had it in stock. I guess that's what I get for being out of the loop. ;)

The video footage of Wade's burnout is awesome... but it's 25MB... So, I'll have to find someone to host it so y'all can see it.

Scott - you weren't cussing anybody, but a lot of people are in the dark about what's gone on with Darin and Marv. The link to the thread below should clear most of it up - I also later spoke with Marv about the situation as well.

In sum, at most Darin "conceptualized" the idea of a steering brace and Marv is the one that made it happen. He engineered the piece and did the initial fabrication on the first units and got it perfect. Darin and Marv were partners but Darin saw an opportunity to get the upper hand in the business and got in good with 4 or 5 big dealers here in the states and tried to leave Marv out in the cold. Fortunately, Marv is doing well in his business and is a helluva guy in my opinion. I'm planning on ordering the track bar upgrade kit from him pretty soon.

Here's the scoop:

Anytime someone starts bad-mouthing Marv I try to point them to this thread and others. You weren't bad mouthing anyone but you asked to see it so here it is. ;)

water is pretty cool. the resivoir with snow's kit is only a half a gallon or you can use your windshield wiper resivoir. so its more for short burst rather than running alll of the time. adding water raises your compression ratio. if you have your turbo wastegated you ought to be ok on the head gasket. jmho

Hans,

That is some more story! Mine is one of the original open end models. Looks like I got it in May of '03.

Actually when I went to install it it rubbed on the idler arm so I called the phone number in the instructions and actually talked to Marv. This was on a Saturday around 8:00 pm. It must have been his cell phone. He explained that they had discovered this problem and that he would gladly send me one that wouldn't rub. I opted to just do a little grinding and a little spray paint. I hope everything has worked out for Marv.

Thanks for helping me keep my truck clean Terry!

I just want to say a big THANK YOU! to Terry Johnson of "Johnson Earthworks" he worked out a good deal with my father on straightening out the big pot holes in the end of our driveway. While I was expecting it to be later in the week I came home tonight to find the whole driveway already done, and them huge, ugly, truck dirtying pot holes GONE! Oo. Oo. Oo. :D

I know Terry doesn't post anymore because his 'puter gives him fits, but he does read every day or two to stay up to date. Thanks again Terry, I'll call ya back tomorrow (ya shoulda called the cell I was at Anna's) ;)

Oh and another thing I absolutely LOVED my first day on the job! Oo. Boss man forgot to send me for my DOT phsyical, and they can't send me till Wed. so I won't be driving myself till the end of this week. However, today seemed to just fly by and before I knew it it was 5:02PM when I clocked out... . 30 mins over! :-laf

Glad you're liking your new job so far. I had a friend that works in the landscaping business. He worked for JD landscaping for a while.

Be reliable, show up on time, make an extra effort, work your way up the ladder.

Hey guys - I'm working on a short write-up for the magazine about our meeting at Mark's. I don't really have all that much material after looking at it, so does anyone know of anything that I might have forgotten?

I just went over the basics, location, number of trucks, etc. Also put how we talked about pulling rules and upcoming pulls, and the one in January. What else did we do and talk about?

errr... Let's see... .

we indoctrinated a new member with a ride on a 500HP truck. Had a technical instruction for complete air horn installation (Got Smoke?’s truck). We covered technical topics on three major injection pumps: P7100 (160 & 215 Pumps), VP44, CP3. Reliability, replacement, and upgradeability. We had an in-depth discussion and education session on the implementation of the mechanical P7100 pump retrofitted to the newer VP44 fueled application, and the even newer gear driven cp3 system. Discussing the benefits of performing such an operation. We discussed KDP with a new member, and the importance of performing this critical modification. We talked about exhausts, e-brakes, boxes, injectors, turbo’s, gauges. We talked about why a FP gauge ins’t necessary in the 3rd Gen applicaton, new lift pump locations for the 05+ plus model year.

We even drifted above the ISB, and into the larger motors such as the ISL. Our newest member who works for Cummins Cumberland talked about some technical details surrounding the ISB and ISL motors. Major differences like like the ISB’s parent-bore cylinders vs. the wet-bore cylinders of the ISL. We also talked about Jake-brakes operation and necessity, long haul trucking, and tractor life cycles.

I’m embellishing a little, but hey…

Y’all straighten my facts out if I’m wrong anywhere… I’m just mouthin’ off. :)

Also, we discussed steering upgrades and retrofits on the 2nd gen 4WD trucks and tire and wheel upgrades.

Anybody good with Photoshop? Had a trick I need to play on my boss. He is an avid fisherman and has a PC wallpaper photo of him holding a nice rainbow trout. Need to edit it so he is holding a big nasty carp. Want to see how long it takes him to notice. Anybody help me out? He is out for the next two weeks on a fishing trip.

Another intereseted tidbit I forgot to tell ya'll.

I was at Diesel Power, off murfreesoboro rd the other day getting a head gasket for Ol Smokey. Me and the owner, Older grey haired fellow, started yacking (imagine that!), and he asked what I was up too. Told him "Melting pistons is my latest hobby". We start talking diesel performance. He always loved it(years ago), never had nobody to share it with. Told him there was pleny out there now! Gave him some brief. He asked, "Are they really making money on this diesel performance stuff " I just laughed :D Told him several shops make there living on diesel performance alone :) I promised him a ride when I get her put back together.

He is a service center for perkins, deutz, cummins, detroit, etc... They rebuild pumps and injectors. We yacked more. He said, I can tell you like diesels so you'll appreciate this. He calls me back to his office and shows me some literature with pictures. He said he goes to conferences all over the country 2-3 times a year about diesel motors. The last one he was at (new orleans) Perkins was there and announced they have an Inline 6 motor, Common Rail pump, individual computer chips mounted to each injector vs a single computer. 335hp 700 ft lbs torque from the factory and it just received automotive approval for the states and Perkins is currently in talks with an automotive manufactorer about offering it. They didn't disclose who though. Thought it was kinda cool. He said it would really be able to make some power they way the fuel system is designed. Real cool looking motor. It was all brushed aluminum color. It wasn't made out of aluminum, just looked like it. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Cool! It would be nice to have someone like that show up at a meeting. Give us a little change and be able to hear someone talk in depth about the diesel industry.
