mike and i would like details about the pull in janurary. i. e. dates, rules and payouts. thanks, nick

We be sure to get the word down that way as soon as possible.

Perkins--thas cool, now how long to hack that/them computer/s. 6-cylinders, BRILLIANT! whooda ever thought to try it that way? :p

Also at the meeting:

Steering upgrades (performed by local shop with member/owner and present at meeting) were not only discussed but made available to test drive.

Rules of punctuation, and the lack of Robert's Rules of Order.

Meacham Evins was appointed Officer of Drag Racing Information.

The coefficient of traction was thoroughly tested.

Ape-hanger shifting mechanisms were on display and tested--although the test was not performed dynamically--just parked.

Be sure to get all that in there. :D

HAHAHAHA! I love it. :-laf

Has anybody got some webspace where I can put this 25MB burnout of Wades? It's really awesome. Y'all gotta see it.

EDIT: Also don't forget to mention the worlds 4 horniest dogs. I ain't never seen so much action. Every time I saw one of them, they were humpin' something: Stumps, kids, cats, each other, trailers, tires... . list goes on and on. Meacham made an excellent observation to Wade regarding his dog chasing a cat... but we won't talk about that here in public. :-laf

Wade is that B-1 or yours wastegated? I'm guessing "no" but wanted to verify.

I guess you can let your foot control the boost if you don't use a wastegate... what then would be the purpose of having one? Allow maximum fuel delivery while keeping your compressor in its most efficient range?

I'm not sure what a wastegate is good for. ;)

But then I can't floor it. All that smoke and rubber and I didn't use half the rack travel. :p

30-40% Throttle travel is about all I can use unless I want an off-boost cloud or 45-50psi of boost. I'm feathering at 40-45.

Changed plate to #8 and moved it to the middle. No real difference that I can tell.

Wastegate lets you dump fuel without thinking about it--and look at other gauges.

I've got some good shots. Just checked them out. Maybe tonight I'll get around to downloading image editing stuff, and get a few posted. I'm on a different machine (xp bites) and don't have my irfanview.

I can vouch for the boost issue in Wades truck with no wastegate.

Sitting there doing both of those brake stands it was hard to keep it under 40PSI!

After the 1st one we went down the road and Wade was like "we would have left more rubber if I had thought to lock this switch"..... me over in the Driver seat going we can do it again! Oo. :-laf

When we came back to do the 2nd burnout Wade told me to watch the boost gauge and not go over 40psi and he would operate the switch..... no biggie right?

Welp as soon as the tires lit boost started getting WAY up there and when Wade locked the converter there was no keeping it under 40 PSI I started surging and getting under the turbo so I let out off the brakes and fried up the road as far as I could! :-laf

Yeah, that's the problem with no wastegate--big hairy burnouts become technical business (for those of us with stock head gaskets  ).

So the surging wasn't all Mark's fault. With the moderate throttle position and freely spinning tires the transmission was shifting to 3rd and back down.

I solved that with the last one. Put her in 2 and then ripped 'em. Stick is coming and I want a mile-high shifter for it! Oo.

Hey Mark, I wanted one of your video tapes too. Speaking of video--how's it coming Andy? Heck what about PDR or DD--they have videos on site. Hmmm, SEE if City Diesel has a place to put it. Heck, the only thing that I bought new from the vendor on that truck is the bars (Lsfarm), gauges(Geno's), and the springs in the gov/afc (TST). :-laf

Injectors from Joe D. , turbo from TDR classifieds, #4 plate from Red, #8 plate from Robert, pump outta the junkyard, transmission from Nick, front tires from Meacham, back tires for $10 each, stack parts from KY salvage and Truck Pro--whoops that's new.

OH, and that 98 quad 12-valve nv4500 4x4 went for 9100!!! With 170k on the clock. Imina start collecting 98 quads, one of each color. Need a flatbed too!

Wake me up in the morning I'm dreaming... ... ..... :D

But I'd pay 9k for a 98 12v. by gum.

Dangit!! $9100 sounds like a winner... :(

Glad it wasn't just me waging war between the go pedal and the boost gauge on Wades 12'er. Dang thing hit 43 or so before I could let off the pedal, and I was slowly rolling on the throttle. When it lit, it was gone. When he initially said keep the boost under 40, I thought "pbffffttt... that should't be too hard. " ... boy was I wrong.

I'll do it again... ... . ANYTIME! Oo. :-laf I wish I had bought an Auto! :{

Yeah that was partially my thoughts too Andy... ... . forgot about lack of wastegate at the time... ... . what REALLY threw me was the dang thing was @ like 900-1000* before I got to 50mph and I was easing into it! :--)

Pulling a VP44 tonight on a guys truck. 99 model 1xx,000 miles. Doing it at Underwood Tire if anybody wants to join us. Garrick(Smokindieseldork) is gonna help us, he's pulled about 10 so far. He just bought a 96 club cab, long bed, 4x4 yesterday. It's for the fiance. Gonna be his new drag machine, eventually.

Got the head of ol smokey, 1 burnt and 1 melted piston. Still gotta get the block pulled and get'r bored. Piers has some great replacement pistons, $300/set. The marines we had in there were $480. Going slow, but going... Ya'll outta seen me, joe and john feger pulling the head, ATS manifold and turbo at one shot. Lifting it over studs were a pain. Made joe fart about mid stream. We all about dropped it :D

mark,

i am glad to see you are getting back on the horse.

way to go wade the last time he rode with me i did not think he would ever go for another high performance ride again, maybe its the fact that he didn't want to get sideways again.

joe

Gap - I'd like to see a VP44 removal as I'll probably be doing one myself one day. Probably have to catch you guys next time though - we're knee-deep in remodeling at my place.

Andy - I posted on the other thread that I've got some online hard drive space to host that video. I don't know if you can email it or not, but if you can that would be fine.

I can prolly get it out on my side, but I doubt you've got any way to receive it. It's 25MB. Most places have a 5MB or less cap on size. I'm working on getting it posted somewhere.

Oh heII I wish I'd remembered. The last guy I had in the truck who said "sideways makes me nervous" got to enjoy a 3rd gear pullout/burnout :-laf :-laf :-laf as in sideways fishtailing towards the fireworks stand at 30mph with the rear tires doing 90.

Dangit Joe, I kept the truck straight with Mark in it.

Running 100+/- last night with a Maxima in the 24v and KABLOOMERS! blew another boot.

I went by a "Colorado" last night in the 24v as well. He sped up some SO I dusted him, but then we came into the city limits and I slowed to a reasonable multiple of the posted limit--and he whizzes by like he did something. :-laf

Which reminds me. Remember Lt. Worf on TNG (trek), and how when faced with the biggest, baddest, ugliest, stinkinest, meanest looking thing he had ever seen-- he would comment,

"A worthy opponent. "

That's how I feel about the Perkins. ;) I hope Ford gets it. Then GM can file bankruptcy.

Scott is coming for the 160 pump. Can't talk him out of it.

Yall get that pump on yet?
