Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

i see you all have been having a lot of fun a my expense. o well if i knew me i'd give me a hard time too.

andy, i wish you lived closer to me i'd like to get that 12v going for you ( side ways) you will let me put a clutch in it but won't let me work on a cooling problem :--)

i think gap is the best redneck computer geek i know.

snipper, i think you have a bearing problem. don't forget to check your grease in the rear end. i had a 3/4 ton doing something close to that and i cleared it up by adding some limited slip additive.

that's all for now

joe

I wish I had that sideways thing on video... and a picture of my jaw to go with it.

For those of you who weren't present for the innagural rolling of my truck (nicknamed: "the abomination"). Here's the story Joe is referencing: When the truck left the shop Gap was driving. About 10 minutes later, I was standing by the garage door drinking my signature Mtn Dew, and here comes my truck sideways off of hwy 48 onto the side street. Tires blazing and thick black smoke rolling from the stacks. 3rd Gear wide open. He walked it sideways for a good 150'. I looked over at my buddy Keith and said "They must have swapped drivers, cause I know that wasn't Gap". It was about 11PM. I'm sure the neighboors were overjoyed with our antics.

I gets no respect, no respect... Guess I'm just like my daddy, do better at making em go fast than driving them. The pit crew is always forgotten while the driver is kissing babies.

That joe can drive though. He treats a 7000lb truck like a dirt bike too well.

Man, I'm ALL about you driving the snot out of something. I just ain't seen it happen yet.

BTW, we crossed the scales at the T/A downtown Nashville at exactly 17,100lbs. Both trucks had half tank fuel. John and I were physically away from the scales. That weight was the two trucks and a trailer.

Well its official "Thumper" (aka Terry Johnson) is a famous TV star along with Meacham Evins and Corn & Mrs. Corn. Caught most of the very 1st Cedar City Diesel TV commercial tonight on cable, finace's dad hollered and I cleared the chocolate lab and was down about 15 stairs in roughly 5 seconds :-laf

As for cheap fuel I filled up in Franklin, KY Friday for $2. 41 a gallon, since then its dropped to $2. 34. I'm getting OUTRAGEOUS mileage on this tank! :--) Oo. :-laf and I'm not sparring the whip/smoke either!

Headed back with a couple of 5 gal jugs whenever I actually get low on fuel? Roughly 200 miles (226 corrected for 315's) and I'm between 1/2 & 3/4's of a tank. Oo.

Mark, you gotta tell someone next time you head up to Franklin, I need some of that cheap KY diesel!!! Joe, I am thinking the same as you, Roadhog had told me that his 04. 5 did the same thing that mine is doing. Just trying to come up with the money to get er in the shop and still have $$ for X-Mas for my girls. It's good to have you back online with us!!! Someone still needs to let me know what's up with all this talk about Bio-Diesel, I'm lost as last year's Easter Egg with all that talk!!! If you need to, I'll give out my e-mail if that makes this easier... Shay

Check your TDR Travel Companion information. I just updated mine. And I have been contacted by a traveller before. I've also stopped on the side of the road a few times just to help out a Cummins driver. One was towing a big TT at the time.

Heck, there ain't but 12 other people listed in the 2006 Travel Companion. You don't have to offer more than you have. Check it out if you're not familiar with it.

Wade, are you the one in Woodbury listed? I just added myself to it, although I can't do much else than talk to someone while they fix the problem, I'm on there!!! Thanks for the reminder.

Warranty--gotta love 'em. FREAKIN deductible on a Warranty!? The DC store in Lebanon has gone to crap. They denied a lift pump claim on a truck with 90k on it today because it was 2 WEEKS out of the 5 year window. It was what we call an "01. 5". Meacham slapped and LP on it (but I think the big pump is a goner). They also VOIDED warranty on a truck with some really serious HIGH OUTPUT mods recently--it had an aftermarket airbox and a high-rise intake. Yeah, that's right--BOOOONE Stock! I advise that you go to Sparta for warranty work--if'n you've got a truck that qualifies for that sort of stuff. ;)

I let them "safety recall" the throttle cable on the '95. Freaking punk kid routed the thing goofy and I had to stop on the way home to get the idle under control. The I had to spend 1/2 hour the next day routing the thing properly. Pay the money do it right do it yourself. Warranty is a joke. Okay I'm through.

Speaking of the BEAST. It is running, but not moving. Needs controller from ATS.

Got the GO on the 98 12v Quad for the wifey. Should take possession on Monday. And when she's not around I get to drive it. :-laf

Yep, I'm the Woodbury listing on the TC. I have a heated workspace and air and parking, most of the tools and a good bit of knowledge/experience, but my old phone number is on the list--machine is still there, but I'm not there every day. And if I cain't fix it--CCD can!

Resident 12v nooob here... . I started my systematic but complete fluid change procedure tonight. I got to the fuel filter, and noticed that the one I took off had a small o-ring. The fleetguard I got from geno's didn't have this o-ring (top of plastic packaging was torn open). Did it fall out in Georgia? Is it a separate part number?

I have the spin-on filter with the water separator threaded in the bottom. There is a large outer o-ring, but I don't have a replacement inner one.

I'm not the kind of guy to re-use the old one. :(

Overheating is not fixed. HOWEVER... . I did just figure out the problem. Sadly, we were ALL wrong in our diagnosis.

... It's leaking BADLY from the back of the block. I've been laying under it for an hour trying to find out where. I'm guessing that it is the freeze plug in the rear of the block. It was replaced by one of those expanding rubber things (rubber sanwiched inbetween two metal plates with a bolt and nut through the middle). Evidently(hopefully) it has come loose, and not something more serious like a cracked block. I vaguely remember him telling me he had done that. For what reason, I can't imagine. I found this after pulling the thermostat for the 3rd time, and removing the waterpump. Good news is the pump looks great, no play in shaft at all. Impeller looks great too.

Joesup may have to eat his words about my not letting him help me. I'm definately going to have to beg for help on this deal. I hope we can put a freeze plug in by removing the transmission and not the motor. Pulling the motor won't be the end of the world... that'll give me a chance to detail the engine bay. ;)

UPDATE: Freeze plug is missing completely from the back of the motor. :(

Yikes!! Yesterday while riding through the boro w/ my dad (stock 3rd Gen) I noticed a sharp QC LB with big ole exhaust and triple gauge pod and TDR sticker with two women in it. My dad mashed on it to get around another car and about that time I realized that it was Wade's truck. Next thing I see is funnel cloud of smoke and she put us back in our place. My dads reply, "I guess that truck is turned up" and all I could say was that I told you so!!

Yep, that's her--the Wife that is. She drives around with the box off until somebody messes with her. :-laf

She's getting her own 12v with 370's next week. :--) :--) :--)

Her mom (the passenger) was a bit spooked by the whole thing.

Her very own Bright Red 98 Sport 4x4 Short Bed Quad with 370's, #10, 35/40 charger, 13" Con FE and BIG tires, leather seats, big stereo, air compressor, bags, steering/suspension upgrades, etc...

If she had stacks, I'd be jealous! Oo.

NOW for the blue truck (salvage). Robert and Steve worked it over tonight. We got the bed and bumper off--not easy when it's all crunched up. Steve got the bed cover and the trailer wiring harness. Robert just got happy jerking the bumper loose. :-laf

I'm getting the complete drivetrain out of it. The engine (2000) will be for sale if/when I sell my 2WD.

Yes. I think I'll be selling the 2WD truck in the near future. The I'll pick up a Flatbed and have a 12v collection. I have several things to do before I offer the 24v up for sale, and will try to sell it "uprated" first--but will "stockify" it if necessary.

Anybody interested can see most of the details at my profile. Two things I must do before selling is replace the windshield and the front spindle/brake/bearing assemblies. The custom console does not go with the truck.

Email "W1ADE" _AT_ heartoftn.net for gooder details. ;)

back to the blue one--Mark, you can buy the Sport headlights---but I want the turn signal lenses! Make offer.

wade, hard to sell them turned up. people cant borrow the money. had to put my 01 back stock and the guy still had a hard time borrowing them money. i came out better selling everything seperate money wise. just a pita having to mess with it. nick
