I’ve decided it’s stupid for me to always have to drive the boat....so time to train the grandkids...

Get older, get smarter..:D

Some men never teach anyone anything because they’re afraid of being replaced. Other men realize you can’t be promoted if you can’t be replaced. Hopefully you’ll be promoted to a position with a cool drink in one hand and a burger in the other while supervising a relaxing Sunday ride on the lake. Congratulations.

OMG!! I woulda been scared "shirtless!!" Who knows, Perhaps, I woulda even jumped ship for a few minutes!!

Just hope you never had this kid get out to open a gate and make him run for the truck!! If so, he's gonna make you swim for a bit!!

Just saw this - great job! I remember the first time I got to "drive" a boat - was my grandfathers boat - an old Chris Craft, on Toms River in NJ.

Glad you have been blessed to provide for them like this!

Hopefully my kids will have memories like that!

Guess this means the boat is still running well....anymore hesitation issues?

Had a slight hesitation when warm BUT I had noticed the water temp falling off after the first few cycles of the thermostat. Water pump had been leaking since I bought the thing so I Amazoned up a new water pump and thermostat. Installed those last month and now it stays up around 150 to 170 which pretty much eliminated that final hesitation.

Last thing now is a ticking noise, it's a lifter or loose rocker arm....some claim the mechanical fuel pump can cause a similar noise....

Perfect!!!

We were in New Jersey visiting relatives last week. I rented a boat and went out on the bay for one day. Visited a lot of old stomping grounds. Wonderful memories!

Glad you are making more!!

Momma and baby Loon. Shut the boat off and watched them. The parents were teaching the little one how to do the Loon call a couple weekends ago. Tried to get an audio recording but not quick enough...

It's great that kids are learning things at a young age. I started driving at age 9, three on the tree in an old 1964 Jeep pickup, learned to double clutch to get in first gear as it wasn't synchronized. I was cutting hay at age 12 when I could reach the pedals on the tractor.

The tractor I first drove didn't have (working) pedals. Hand throttle in the middle, hand clutch on the left (it needed about 40# to lock it engaged; my uncle eventually adjusted it-15 years later--to slip in with a pound or less), 5 spd trans. It was a Case DC. That was '73. Still drove it 15-20 years later. Then helped him rebuild the engine on the replacement DC maybe 10 year ago. But I didn't drive much that summer; my main job was to mix the piglets' formula and pour it out for them. Uncle would come in and say it was time to feed the piglets. And my aunt'd tell him the hired hand already done it.

The first tractor I drove was a Farmall F-12. 1937. Dad then purchased a used John Deere D. So, I went from a hand brake / foot clutch to a hand clutch / foot brake. Surprisingly I didn’t mess anything up with that combination since we had both tractors. I had a DC tractor with a original loader. I modified the loader to be power up and power down, but left the trick bucket alone. I sold that into 2007 when I purchased a new Kubota. At times I miss that old tractor, but I sure love the reliability of a new one!
