MIL Light..... No Codes???

I was driving to work this morning and my MIL light came on. When I parked, I checked codes by cycling the ignition. There were no codes displayed. I know that the function worked because I got the dashes then the 'done' message. I restarted the truck and the MIL light is still on.



Any clues? Thanks in advance for the help!

I'll bet it goes off after a few times of starting your truck.

I have p0406 right now that won't go away. Supposed to take truck in next wednesday.

if the light comes on you have a code... ... ... ... ..... the window will not display codes from all the modules.

Cel And Etc Lights

My 08 Mega is still showing the CEL and ETC (lightning bolt) after all the enginge icon light tests are complete on startup. Dealer did a Star Scan and it showed no codes. They attempted several time to be sure everything was clear but nothing showed up... ... Doesn't affect engine in any way. Everything runs normal, but it has been like this for over a month... ... . also, after starting the engine, the CEL and ETC lights go out... ... . NO, it isn't just a bulb check.

ANY IDEAS ?

What are the ETC and MIL lights? I've figured out CEL = check engine light, but you guys have got me scratching my head with the other two.

MIL =Malfunction indicator lamp

ETC= electronic throttle control

MY ETC light winked at me once but has never been back, and I set some codes while cranking right after a fuel filter change.

dealer cleared, nothing since.

With out having the truck in front of me it's kind of tough... ... ... ... ... there have been way too many software changes to remember the differences between them all.

I have flashed ECMs 4 different revisions on some 6. 7's. I can't think of any modules on the new trucks that have not gotten at least one update available.

The Instrument cluster is included in the latest RRT/tsb

If a person would like to fully read and reset their own codes on these new trucks, what type of scanner is necessary. Does it have to be the full Star scanner, or are there other more cost effective means.
