milage

I only have about 2000 miles on my truck with about 1200 of that towing my 5th wheel. I know milage will get better as I get more miles on the truck, but can some of you with more miles give me an idea of what you are getting? I am getting 9. 6 towing a 14500 pound 5th wheel and 13-14 empty.

I only have a little over 6000 miles on my truck, but towing a 16K 5th wheel (102" wide and 13'2" high), mileage has improved from the original 9. 5 MPG towing up to 10. 2 MPG over the same route so far. Running empty on the highway yields 16-17 MPG. My truck is a 4x2, so I would expect mileage to be slightly better than a 4x4.

My 2011 has 60K and towing 5th wheel fully loaded (15K) I get 8-9 MPG. Empty I run 13. 5-14. 5. Its a Dually 4X4. Truck is getting better as she ages.

My 2012 4x2 Dually is getting 10. 2 towing, 16. 5 empty highway miles, 2000 miles only on it so far, I only have 900 tow miles, should improve some with more miles, my 5th wheel is a little lighter than yours, but not much, you didn't state your tow speed, mine is based on about 57-62 mph.

I normally set the cruise control on 65 MPH on the Interstate and run 62-65 with no cruise on the state highways (towing speed limit in Texas is 70 MPH unless otherwise posted. )

Thanks for information. I don't expect to ever get what I was getting with my 2004, but I'm looking for some improvement as I get more miles on it. To answer question about towing speed I usually run 65 mph when I can.
