I was poking around Craigslist today. We're thinking about another vehicle with another driver coming through the pipeline. :-laf Anyway, saw an ad for an 06 Mega, 6" lift with 36" or 37" tires. "I average 20 MPG". I have a bone stock 06 Mega (ok, it has a Cool Blue tube) and the only time I get 20 is on the highway empty and keeping at <65.

Some guys have real big gallons and really short miles. I had a guy try and tell me his 04 dually did a consistent 33 mpg. I called bull ****, he got mad and walked away.

Have a concrete pumper I know that has a 7. 3 ford and claim's to get 24 pulling his Pump and a bed full of hoses with it I tried to explain to him it wasn't possible but it didn't work

My Ram gets 47 mpg consistently. I run the same 50 mile course every time I check it. I fill the tank until it is overflowing, drive the course, and then refill until the nozzle clicks off.

Many people just go by the overhead especially after thier programmer of choice is installed and "raises the mileage for them". Some manufacturers displays are infact very accurate, some are not. The 11 Dmax my son had was dead on everytime until he installed a "Duramileage kit". It modified the torque management etc and made a HUGE performance improvement as well as made the overhead completely inaccurate. Hand checked mileage remained the same.

His new 13 Ram also seems to be dead on. The overhead in my 04 is never dead on , but usually fairly close, but not always and never to be depended on... ..... more something to keep you occupied:-laf

We must fill at the same place because I get the same mileage as you do!!!!!!!!!!! pulling a 40K trailer UP HILL!!!!!! and I, well I wont tell you anymore cause you wont believe it anyway :D

I got over 100 mpg once while towing a trailer... ... ... . varified by the overhead display and coming down the grapevine out of LA.

in my '03 , I have gotten an honest 25 mpg on a trip to Ohio and back. . but my average for the past year factoring all driving stands at 16. 65 mpg. I wish the average was higher :(

I can see some trucks getting better fuel mileage than the stock factory trucks do, for a couple of reasons. I know my 08 truck gets better fuel mileage than a stock 08 Mega Cab would and I am running 60 HP over stock at the rear wheels. One of the reasons is better tuning for the truck over stock tuning to meet the factory parameters to ship these trucks under federal law.

My sons 06 Crew Cab LB 2500, 4X4, 5. 9L will get a consisted 20 to 21 MPG on the highway and this is hand calculated fuel mileage. His set-up is 100% over stock injectors, duel CP3 fuel pumps', tuning is by EFI live and a billet built 48RF transmission that develops close to 800 HP.

My 08 when stock would get around 9 to 10 MPG towing my 5er and not towing would only get 16 MPG max on the highway. The truck will now get a round 10 to 12 MPG towing with a high of 20 MPG on the highway without the camper. These are all hand calculated fuel mileage numbers with over 5 years of records to back these numbers up.

My 2500 DRW gets 14. 3 at best

I really don't figure it out *E* means fill with Diesel to the *F* mark, I use to figure it out but when I started to run BIO I didn't care cause in the summer it cost's $. 85 A Gal

Most people decide what fuel mileage they are proud of, and report that as verified fact. No amount of logical argument or direct evidence can convince them that they are wrong.

I envy this way of thinking. It would allow me to get substantially better fuel mileage than I do, and just a few ounces of acetone, some magnets, or maybe a hydrogen generator would allow me to easily obtain mileages above 30 mpg. The savings would be wonderful, not to mention how cool I'd be bragging to all my friends.
