My mileage lately has gone down, and I'm not sure why or where ro begin looking. My mileage has never been as good as others, but with my same setup (nothing has been changed since) I used to get around 17, combined, unloaded. I have the 4:10's which I know is some of it, but now I'm only seeing 11-13, even unloaded:{ !! The fuel filter is new, it didn't help:( . I know I need a valve job, but could that be it??

96 is 12 valve. I'd take it to a good shop and get the injection pump adjusted and timed. That helped my 89 immensely. Also watch your oil level. The lift pump can leak and fill the crankcase with diesel!

I've had this same problem now for almost 6 months. . went from 16+ to about 13+- heres some of the things I've tried.

1. Replaced lift pump

2. replaced Intake Temp sensor

3. replaced air filters, and tried different configs of filters.

4. replaced fuel filter (twice)

5. checked air in tires (often)

6. checked turbo hoses(many times) always snug

7. checked all fluid levels, and changed fluids (often)

71/2. Changed my fuel stations. . no winter fuel here.

Still thinkin' about adjusting valves, but everything I've read on the TDR, says it's unlikely thats the problem.

8. and the final thing... Kicked the dog!!!
