What should I check? The IAT sensor is nice and clean, always keep clean oil, filter, use fuel only from two truck stops and fuel filters changed every other oil change. I'm not real heavy on the go pedal. What gives? I used to get 16+ tooling aroung town and 21 on the hiway when I purchased last May? Can't figure it. Area temps are back to summerish and the fuel winter blend junk is gone - any suggestions, comments?

Even when my V-6 4 Runner was bad it got better than 14! :mad:

I'd check under the hood and make sure someone didn't switch your Cummins for a PowerJoke ;) I'm getting 16 combination and look what I'm running. Something is wrong, only thing I could suggest is to check tire pressure? that might help a little?

Even with the IAT clean it could still be bad. There are procedures around here somewhere they tell you how to check it or for the $20 that it costs for a new one I would suggest changing it to see if mileage gets better. Thats what I did and it got me about 2 mpg

More Suggestions welcome

Pit Bull - Good one - powerjoke under the hood:-laf more like the V-6 from my old riceburner. Yes I'm @ low 14MPG w/3:55's and you're killing me @ 16 w/4:11's something is drastically wrong - I'm really bumming out now :( Also the tires are 70# front & 55# rear - BTW they are 265 X 75 X 16's - thanks.

Turbo Tim1 - I think I'll go for the new IAT and see what happens - it's a quick return on investment if it works and if nothing changes I have a spare - thanks.

dmurdock - that's a good thought - I checked them when I had the battery tray out to replace the cruise Servo and again when I changed the oil last weekend and added the gauges - thanks.

Anyone else have other suggestions - PLEASE. :{

A 180* thermostat helps most 24vs. . . 5-1mpg better

Also check the bolts/gaskets on the intake horn. Check exhaust manifold and turbo bolts.

tips

Well, there are not too many tips left. You might have a dribbly injector. Could also be a brake dragging or sticky parking brake cable, but you should catch that.

Your trans could also be slipping :( , or your OD lockup might not be working?

Did you change tires, thereby throwing off the speedo, and thus your fuel mileage calculations?

Your front alignment might have changed to a pushing condition, and thus making more drag and lower fuel mileage.

I would take it to a reputable performance shop and check for a boost leak. Mine ran fine but leaked something fierce. BTW, I ended up just needing to tighten the intake horn.

Try retorquing the...

intake manifold bolts. I think it is 18 ft/lbs. Every rig I have checked had some loose ones. Checking for a boost leak with a tester is the sure fire way to find all of them.
