Just refueled the new truck for the first time-- first 200miles were @1600/1800 RPM"S in 6th, (per Cummins) and the remainder city/ and a good bit of interstate. It took thirty gallons up to the neck of the fuel cap. The DTE showed 6 miles to empty and the ECO showed 15. 1---- Hand calc showed 17 MPG. Therefore I had 68mi

to "dry". The fuel gauge indicator was left of the red "E" and just off the small metal peg--- THAT"S close enough for me.

We re-calibrated the speedometer for the 285 BFG'S. Also, re-calculated what the new ratio (orginally 3. 73 with 265's) is with the 285's--- 3. 60.

This DODGE is stealthy and sneaky QUICK!

This DODGE is stealthy and sneaky QUICK!

My thoughts EXACTLY. I was finally able to "play" a little over the weekend, and I can't get over how fast this truck is. As quick or quicker than my 97 V10 was, and this is a much heavier truck.

And quiet. Too quiet. Gotta get a better (louder) muffler on this thing.

Hand calculated mileage so far around 13, overhead says 10. 8.

Thats great news for us looking to buy a 600 in the near future... I could live with 17mpg for the first tank of fuel in the truck. I take it your truck is 4wd, and if so, that is exactly the same truck as I plan to put on order in a week or so. Anyone else that is getting repectible mileage, please feel free to chime in and make us feel a little better about our upcoming or current $40,000+/- purchases!

Scott, glad to hear you were finally able to use that new beast of yours. Mine is still sitting in Newark so I guess, no... know for sure, I still have to wait awhile before I get to play a little. Let us know how you make out with the mileage. I'm really curious to see how you do.

John, I'm sure most of us here will see our mileage go up somewhat as these engines break in. I got in the 15s in my Powerstroke with my stop and... stop:D commuting that I do.

My aformentioned V10, while a terrific engine, got in the 9s in those same conditions.

Let me say, as much as I liked my Ford, after owning this truck only 5 days now, it is easily the finest yet. :)

I picked up my truck on March 25th. (First time CTD owner), and the first tank of fuel averaged 17. 68MPG. (I drive from Jamestown, NY to Amherst, NY every day for my commute, 70MPH).

Second tank of Fuel, I "played" a little with the throttle, and ran 15. 6 average MPG.

Third tank of fuel... . um. err 14. 5mpg. I think I played a little too much. I have 1777 miles on the truck right now, and the trip computer says 15. 6. Now I haven't reset the trip computer since I bought the truck with 12 miles on it. Hopefully, at $1. 71 a gallon, the economy gets to 19 or 20MPG after break in, which I understand for someone like me who very rarely pulls anything, is 10k.

Otherwise, this truck rocks. Build date 2/4/04. I think I've got current code on the box as well. I only plan on a few minor upgrades. (Boost Gauge, Pyro, Oil Temp Gauge, and a good quality air intake. )

I am going to wait until 10,000 miles before I put my hard tounnue cover on. Then I should get an accurate reflection on what it saves me. (If I don't have to mortgage the house to keep it in fuel. :)

I have had one tank that was 17. 4 hand calculated, all highway milage, not getting it except to pass people.

My last tank was 14. 7 with quite a bit of getting it around the city and having my foot buried in it to blow slow cars off the road... i also sat in a traffic jam for 3 hours. The screen said 13. 2... hand calc was 14. 7.

Its good to see some good mileage reports on the 600. I will be happy getting better then 15 on a 7000lb truck with this kind of power.

Can't wait to get mine

Oo.

You had better plan on quite a bit more weight than 7000# for a DRW. My 01 scales in at 8100# with a crossover tool box in it and that does not weigh more than my wife and I can lift.

My truck weights 7500# give or take a few #`s 3500 srw lb. and I don`t think mine will ever see 20mpg unless I kick the cat out and get some straight through exhaust and play with the timing and maybe go down hill all the time and that really ticks me off DC. You sure use to have alot of loyal truck driving fans but I think things are changing. I think dc must have bought some stock in arab oil.

Gonzo--

Just like I tell the fellas in construction IIWII (it is was it is).

Passed thru WA last year on vacation. I wished I could stay. You are lucky to live not in CA
