OK, Here's the mileage from the next trip: We pulled around 350 miles in the North Texas hill country on mostly smaller highways and backroads. We had alot of stop and go's with the A/C on.

11 MPG - Hand calculated (13. 1 on the worthless overhead readout)

I'm planning a trip to the scales to see what my rig really weighs but I'm pretty sure the 5er is about 10,000 lbs. loaded.

Thanks guys for all the posts,

round trip to PA to Disneyworld, All flat roads, running 65 to 75.
9. 3 pen and paper over whole trip.
Worse I saw on the overhead was 11
Still might have had winter fuel in the northern stations.

At those speeds, its the OD ratio of the 06 speed that is killing me.

Be happy with the fuel economy you get with your cummins, I used to drive a 1999 3500 6spd stroker for work. Empty (no trailer) it NEVER got better than 12mpg. Pulling a load grossing 35,000 lbs ( a friendly wave to the weight nazi's) it would get 6-7 mpg. Our current 2003 dodge 2500 cummins with an auto will get 16-18 empty and 9-10 pulling same loads as above. :);)

I average 12. 5 mix of hills and flat here in california. That is usually at 60-62mph. 55 mph is too slow to pull well and I have actually got worse mileage... 9. 9 pulling at that speed on the flat. BTW I average about 12000 pounds towing with some toys on board.
