My truck is now just shy of 10k miles. Tomorrow Im heading to Sacramento Calif from Grants Pass Oregon. Heading back late Sunday. All highway I-5 with the 4600' summit in Northern Cal and Southern Oregon. Hoping to get another 23mpg reading. I plan to keep it under 70. My best mileage is at 68mph with the cruise set. I will report when I return.

I just returned from my Calif trip and filled the truck at the same station at the same pump. Hand calculated, I got 22. 7 mpg at speeds just under 70. I never hit 70 on the trip. In my truck, 70 mph is like having the emergency brake dragging. My mileage goes in the toilet. 68 mph seems to be the magic number for my 3500! Oo. Oo. Oo. :D Oo. Oo.

Great news. Thank you for sharing. Do you have an auto or manual transmission?

I had the flash done at 500 miles and again at 7,000 miles to activate the fast idle. My truck is 100% stock with the original air filter and is now just over 10,000 miles. :D Automatic trans 4x4 Quad Cab 3500 SWB.

Do you have the 3. 73's and stock tires still?? 68mph sounds just about right for your magic number of overall max efficiency: speed (travel time), aero drag, engine RPM. Those numbers are phenomenal, what RPM are you turning at 68mph??

I've been passed at like 80-85 by a 3/4 tonner with a Hemi, I remember thinking, wow, he must be getting a whopping 9 mpg... :-laf

68mph seems to be my magic number as well, although the best I've seen to date is 20. 04 hand calc'd from Grapevine to Sacramento. On my trip to Michigan the best I saw was low 19's, but I was driving a bit faster, 70-75.

I am getting about 17. 8 on trips, but I drive a little faster than most. I find my truck gets better mileage at 80 mph than it does in the low 70s. If i'm in the 60 mph range, I can almost hit 19 mpg. This is all averages of course, not instant.

I have stock tires and 3. 73's. . Actually, my 305/555 got a few more mpg but I like the 04. 5 as it is a 3500 :D

Just returned from 1400 mile trip, sweet spot empty was 68mph at about 2000 rpm averaged 20. 8 mpg(hand calc) w/ xzillaraider on #1/60hp truck only has about 6000 miles on it. NV5600 6 speed.
