I'm at 14. 5 - 16 on my mega SRW. Seems a little low to me. Been wondering about the "flash" when I hear guys getting 17-19 on their new 06's. But it seems to be on the Quads only; not the MC's. Can't be that much wt. difference. Sure miss my 01 with 315's and 450HP getting 18-20. But sure like a lot more about the new one.

What was the mileage flash number you got? Is the same as the hard start, auto transmission shift flash that some are getting?

600+ hp, 9600 miles, pull 18 freeway all day long if i keep it at 75 or less. Break it in, then worry about mileage. Drive it like you stole ot for a few thousand miles and I'll bet it gets better. Better yet, tow something good and heavy.

Totally disregard all mileage issues until at least 10k is on the clock or you know you have been rough enough on it that it should be starting to break in. Most people see mileage increase for the first 25k miles of ownership. Also, you are in about the worst ruck for mileage anyways, but it'll get better.

Driving style has alot to do with mileage too, you know. Be realistic when checking your mileage. If you race from light to light on the floor and complain that your truck only gets 12mpg, well, you know. You have alot of power, and it takes fuel to make power, so the more power you use the more fuel, ect.

My Mega Cab get 13 MPG, up a hill, down a hill or around a hill, loaded or unloaded 6000 miles, yea it stinks. Had the reflash and no change. I can't wait to see the numbers on the new 07 ;) .

I have a 06 dually with 6 spd. with 9000 miles. and the mileage sucks.

I pull just about every day. and only get 7. 5-9 mpg.

Gross 25,000 lbs.

Feather footin it.

Not as much power as my 03.

These trucks need help!!!!

My work truck weighs around 8500# on average. It is getting roughly the same mileage my 2000 SO 4. 10 got around town and cruising the I 15-16 mpg. Towing 10-12K of equipment at 75 it gets 10. 4. 06 D/A Z pulling similar loads and running with me got 9. 2.

Given the difference in power compared to the 2000 I don't see much of a mileage penalty. Compared to my 98 towing it gets about 10-15% worse mileage.

I have been pleased and very surprised with my 2006 even though I have only 3500 miles on it. On my 1st trip, 2300 miles, I got about 18.

So far, I have been very impressed with just about everything with this truck. The ride is much better than my 03 and mileage is very close to what the 03 was getting.

Truck below with 4. 5K miles has a worst of 16. 6... first tank and a high of 18. 6 today at 70mph for 525 miles with calm winds Dallas to Brownsville. Measured by hand not overhead... fuel to the neck every fillup. Last weekend 11. 4 with 13k fifthweel at 65-70mph for 250 miles.

Anyone who has less than 30,000 on the clock and is whining about mileage shoulda bought a gas rig. You've not even got your engine broke in yet... .

That downhill has to help... 550feet over 525 miles has to do something. Drove from Brownsville to Eagle Pass and back up to Temple today and averaged right at 18... . more towns and stop and go. Very calm winds again... rare in Texas this time of year. Speed is the killer on the fuel mileage. Anything over 2K starts the gulping noises. Going from 70-80 will cost you at least 2mpg... more than that if it is windy. Diesel was 2. 65 in Eagle Pass and Uvalde at HEB.

Only 5500 on odo. but after 1000 miles I made two long trips with the trailer at about 20000# gross combined. Kept it matted on those trips and it made a big difference in milage over new.

So much goes back to the drag factor. Drove my MC SRW 4X4 2500 310 miles w/ the cruise set at 60 mph 1850 (or so) rpm. Exactly 20 mpg. Hand calc and I did tank vent mod some time ago so fill ups are all exact. My '01 would do 23 mpg on the exact same trip.

On the way back I was wanting to get home. 75-80 on I-5 and had my foot in the pump over the 4 passes back home on the cut over road. 15-16 mpg.

I have been reading the posts concerning mileage 06's are getting. I complained many times to the dealer and was told to drive the truck and the mileage would improve at about 10,000 miles. I was getting 9. 9 until I changed the air intake filter and went to the aero turbine muffler. The mileage improved to 13 and on the highway got 15 mpg. The dealership did a flash just before we drove it to Phoenix last week We were hauling about 2000 lbs in the rear and averaged between 17 + and at times in the 18's. I have no complaint now about the mileage or the truck.

We have an 06 3500 long bed crew cab daully with the auto and 373 gears. I didn't baby the truck on the way to Phoenix, drove the speed limit and then about 5 miles over.

Hang in there guys and the mileage should improve.

DHaynes, which flash did they give you, I've got the same truck and my mileage sucks. It's about 10. 7 around town and not much better when highway driving.
