Hey guy's, just got back from colorado towing 9000lbs- inclosed sooner trailer, 31ft long- mileage while running 65mph at 1900 rpm was 13. 01- thats calculated by gallon's divided into miles not trip computer- I thought was very good!:) 12500 miles on truck now. when I ran 70mph mileage was10. 8, at 75mph it was10. 2 Just thought I would share that with you. :D Oh,yeah that was with the Edge-Ez on middle setting. No other mod's-YET!

Wow Floor It that sounds like pretty good mileage to me and I thought mine was good. I get anywhere between 14 to 16 MPH based on driving 65 MPH, but varies based on how mountainous or hilly the terrain. My trailer is only a messly 6000 lbs and is and flatbed and that is with the EZ and DD1's.

27', tall 5'er - 13. something last tank :) :) That was mostly mountainous. As a gen rule of thumb, I try to keep the boost to a max of 20. But, when your sights are set, ah, why not run up to 40 for just a little while. :D :D :D

I just got back from a 10 day trip to Bonneville. 1800 miles 1500 towing 6000 lb trailer at average speed of 65. The average for the trip was 15. 4. The weather going was 108 degrees and the egt never went over 900 after turbo.

Great mileage Tybol, I hope mine keeps improving as I get more miles on my truck. I was worried in the beginning but it is getting better. Only thing is this new engine is more sensitive to things that make mileage worse so I have to be more careful on my driving style if I want good mileage.

In July I did 4150 miles all towing at 20,660lbs (truck n trailer). For the trip I got 10. 3 over all. No computer. Very happy with that. :D

I pull 5-10,000 lbs, 28' enclosed car trailer nearly full time. My overall average is 13. 3 mpg. 54K on the truck. Wind hurts the mileage more than load.

What kind of trailer...

Hey Floor It - What kind of trailer are you pulling? Is it a travel trailer? And if so, is it a 5th wheel?

I pull a ~9,100 lb. 5th wheel. About 16. 5K GCW. The front end of the trailer stands about as high as I've ever seen a travel trailer stand. It's a big barn door in the wind for sure.

I'm getting ~10. 5 to 11 mpg @ 65 mph @ ~ 1,850 rpms, and that's on level ground. The truck makes good power for totally stock, but I think it should do better on fuel than that. I know all my hose clamps are tight. Maybe its just the front of that 5th (the barn door) that's causing so much drag. I dunno? Tell me more about your trailer. Thanks.

Last time I checked towing milage, I got 13 mpg towing a ~4000 lbs boat :( . This was from Cheyanne to Glendo, in the park, then home to Denver. On the highway the cruise was at 85, some hills and pretty windy on the way home. I think I need another overdrive. Towing the Blazer (~8000), I've noticed a huge difference in fuel economy between 75 and 85. I may try setting the cruise around 75-80 pulling the boat back up to Wyoming this weekend to see if I can get a bit better milage.

BTW don't listen to anything Doug says about my driving. :D

4850 mile round trip with 5th wheel in tow and rig weight approx 12,000, average was 15. 8. Cruise set between 65-68 mph.

I do have a wingmaster that sends the wind over the top of the trailer and the truck is a 5 speed.

JyRo, it's a gooseneck type trailer for hauling a race car. It 7ft tall inside and has a compartment area over hitch so it catches alot of wind. I'm going to post some pictures pretty soon of truck and trailer while on MAN vacation trip! It's all aluminum and red just like the truck. :D JyRo you should a EZ Edge, mileage can improve and power is WOW! Pcorssmit, the thing is if you tow light like 4000lbs or 10,000lbs the mileage doesent change! I have towed my inclosed motorcycle trailer with 4 dirt bikes and my mileage wasen't any better!- 3000lbs.

I average anywhere from 9. 8 to 10. 2, depending upon speed. The trailer tops out at 9400 lbs, fully loaded. The dry weight is 7400 lbs.

I've been getting 18-19 just daily driving to work etc. Tomorrow we head out for our first big towing trip, so it will be interesting to see what mileage it gets towing. We're headed for KY (Land Between the Lakes) with a slide-in in back, and a Jeep, 4-wheeler and dirt bike on the trailer.

I'm sure my CTD will get over twice the MPG my buddies' Chevy crew cab gets with his 468 big block, hauling about the same load, and coming with us. That'll give me something to razz him about around the campfire. :D

We have both been die hard Chevy fans, even my Jeep is all Chevy mechanically. After I got my first Dodge several weeks ago, he asked me how I liked it so far. I said sarcastically "well, I'm kind of dissapointed in the mileage". He said "oh yeah?". I said, "yeah, it only got 18. 5 on the last tank". He just turned red. He actually has said he'd like to find a CTD too, but he has just bought some land to build a new house, so it has to wait.

I must admit I like my first Dodge better than any of the many Chevy truck I've owned. It's hard not to. :D

Yep- It's wind resistance more than weight.

I've got a slide in camper at 11'6" tall that averages 15. 3 MPG at 65 MPH. When I hook up one of my trailers at 7500 lbs behind the camper, the mileage remains virtually the same at 15. 1

The same combo at 75 MPH gets 10. 7 MPG.

In town weight is the major MPG killer on the highway wind resistance is. In town with trailer loaded GCVW 20K I get about 5 on highway at 60 13. 7 raise it to 70 and it goes to 12 or less. I am so so on height 10'8"

Floor It, if I understood correctly, you were towing 9000 lbs with an EZ with an otherwise stock truck? Can I hope to assume you have gauges??
