I have a 92 2wd std. cab with an auto trans with 315000 miles. The truck gets 20-22 mpg in the winter then jumps to 24-25 in the summer. Is this the fuel I get in the Baltimore area, can diesel fuel be "watered or thinned" or do I have a problem with my engine?

Welcome to the best kept secret in medium duty trucks :-laf . I average 20mpg, my truck has 204K+. Are your figures highway, combination or city/highway. Tell more about your truck set-up, and driving habits. I've been driving my '72 VW Beetle Beater daily to work just because the cost of regular gas is cheaper than diesel. I'd rather drive my CTD daily, so I save her for the weekend tours, 300 to 400 per weekend .

I live in BC Canada and have gotten 24 to 26 on long hauls with a canopy in the summer. I get about 19 with a camper towing a small boat. Our gallons are 20% larger than US gallons. I dont use my truck for short triips or in the winter.

Yes the majority of my driving is highway. I drive to and from baltimore to the Disrtcit of Columbia twice a week. My "ghetto glider" is mostly stock. It has a turned up pump and the industrial injectors it also has a free flowing muffler. It moves when it needs to.
