I was out on Cornhusker in Papillion, NE at about 1700 on 12 Feb when you passed me at the entrance to Eagle Ridge. You were driving a Midnight Blue 2500 ETH/DEE. Are you out there?

Jakebud,

Just curious. How do you know the guy was driving an ETH/DEE? I can understand how you could tell the truck had a manual if you noticed the absence of the auto shift lever, or saw/heard the guy grab another gear, but unless you were able count as he rowed through all the gears, how do you know it's not a 5 speed.

I'm not being a smart a$$, I just wondered if there is some distinguishing feature I'm not aware of that allows one to distingusih between a manual ETC and an ETH without looking under, or inside the truck?

Like that EZ? ;) When I first saw the post I thought it was me..... but since it was 1700 it wasn't me, I was sound asleep in my bed. ALthough I was sitting on the side of I80 last night about 2215! :(

How I Knew

RedRam1

There is no way I know of externally. The fellow in question pulled up beside me at a red light and said, "have you got five or six?" I said six, and he said "Me too". That is how I found out. I thought he said he was going to follow me into my neighborhood. However, with the splendid noise that the two trucks were generating, who knows what was really said!!!

2500 in nebraska??

Could have been me??? Naw I'm in the middle of the state and my eth is red sorry!! But do you gentelman in nebraska ever consider the idea of a gathering of diesel lovers within the state??? I live out by kearney now but I'm allways up for a little fun!!!

Spike,

I guess rolling down the window, and shouting over the sound of a pair of CTD's to ask about the no. of gears would work! When you said the guy passed you, and was driving an ETH, I was confused. Thought maybe there was something under the truck that you could see in passing that would tip you off... you can see under these rigs pretty well, especially 4 x 4's, but I didn't think you could identify the trans. Guess you just have to ask.
