Trip to the Grand Canyon

I'm looking to upgrade my tires from the General Ameri -550's-(2 blowouts + 1 starting to separate). I'm scheduled to get michelin xps rib 235X85X16 up from 215's. My question is the space between the tire with the tandem axle. It looks like it is 2. 5in now so it would close to about 1. 5in. The guy at Discount tire said it should be OK but I figured I would tap the collective knowledge of TDR.

Thanks

Frank

One thing to consider

I have a class A- M. H. with about 1. 5 in between the rear duals. Unfortunately I've lost 2 tires on two seoerate occasions within a 2 yr. timespan. Why you ask ??? ROCKS They get stuck inbetween & blow the sidewall. This sucks. Something to keep in mind---Proflow

Sorry Frank

Forgot you said Tandem Axle, I dont believe this will be a problem for you, unless they all went low over winter & squished over a large bump & touched, even then probably not a big deal. Just keep them aired up my friend. ---Proflow

I've been running XPS traction and love 'em. They are close but no trouble with rubbing if you keep them aired up. Got 77k out of the last set. :D :D
