Minor Theft

Over the weekend someone stole one of my tailgate supports (the hinged arms that support the taigate when it's open), does anyone have an extra they are willing to part with, and if so, how much $$?? I'm sure it was stolen, they can't fall off when the tailgate is closed, or open for that matter. In any case, one of mine is gone and I would appreciate any help in replacing it. Thanks in advance.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago.

I went to the hardware store and purchased some flat stock and made one. Use the one that you still have as a template.

Better watch it, they might come back for the tailgate. Which is probly what they were after, but maybe got spooked.

Exactly... they wanted the TAIL GATE... ... not some crummy little piece of steel strap.

I went out this morning and put a locking hasp on my tailgate with a Master lock. If they come back for the gate, they'll need to use a hammer and chisel just to get the gate to open. I'm hoping the thought of making alot of noise will deter any would-be thiefs. Now all I need to do is find another support arm and I'm back in business.

What kind of a world do we live in when a man's tailgate isn't safe anymore... :-laf
