Mirror Heater

My right hand mirror heater quit working. Anybody know if I can buy just the head or do I need to get the whole mirror. And if so where would a good place to buy one be..? Thanks for any info....

You can replace just the glass. Got mine from dealer, was in the $55.00 range. I'm sure it is available elsewhere also. bg

And take care to pick the right one, IMHO they changed the way it is fitted to the assembly within the year your truck was built.

I would double check that the heater part is actually bad, and not just a poor connection in the harness or something else.

I will check the wires. Anybody know how to get just the glass out?

I would think you can check the wires where it plugs into the door. The wiring in the hinge area has a bad track record for breaking and leaving windows or speakers dead, I don't see why mirrors wouldn't be included.

To remove the mirror glass, I seem to remember a large wire clip that you can access by turning the glass all the way in/out and/or up/down. I'll see if I can find it.

OK, it's in all the way for regular mirrors. Tow mirrors must up in tow position and tilted out all the way. The ends of the wire clip are about mid-way up. It's sort of a large diameter hexagon shape with the flat sides engaging the mirror backing. Hope that makes sense....
