I have an 01 one ton and i have lost 5 little convex mirrors the are kind of cat eye shaped , my mirrors are the type that stand up for towing a larger load My queshtion is dose any one know were i can get just the tape on mirror and not have to purchass the entire assembly for over $200. 00 . Has any one else had this problum there is only 1/2 inch of two sided tape left when the mirror falls off this is a poor design please respond

Most automotive parts suppliers that have a decent auto-body supply section in them will carry 3M double sided tape that is used to apply emblems, badges or body molding (protective strips).

I have used this on most of my "fish eye" installations on glass/mirrors etc... as the tape, once applied will not come off.

Another brand is "Proform" and it seems to work equally well.

Good Luck,

HP

The title cracked me up. I know the feeling. I actually caught one of the mirrors as it was falling one time.

I have a great source for mirrors locally and I bet you do too. I get flat mirrors from a glass shop and can order any sized convex mirror next to nothing. I would say take your measurements to a local glass shop.

If you are talking about the factory tow mirrors, just the glass from the dealer for the is about $40, and that includes the L-shaped glass and the fish-eye. The last one I replaced was for my 2006 and it had the heating element for that price. I think that is fair and simple.

I noticed mine were loose and was lucky enough to not lose them. I gently pried them off and cleaned the mating surfaces and then used the 3M tape only in two spaced locations. I used clear silicone on the back of the mirror and then pressed it into place, letting the 3M tape hold them until the silicone cured. They are very solid now but have enough flex with the silicone that I don't worry about any heat expansion or contraction because they can flex. The double-sided tape deteriorates after time and that is what lets go.
