Mirror replacement question

Will 02 tow mirrors (the flip out kind) fit on a 95 truck?? What type of fabbing will there be if they don't?

hey they will fit. No fabbing needed. If you want the power mirror function it's a little more involved. Do a search on it as I left mine manual when I switched them out.

I know 2001 ones will fit. I put them on my 96'.

Be sure to check around, because prices vary alot.

It seems like that would mean the 2001 would fit in 1997 also; has anyone ever tried this?

I have done it... . Now I am looking to change the mirror head with the 3rd gen so that I can have power mirrors... Its easier to adjust when I am ready to tow our trailer. .

Yes it will work, since all of the 2nd gens have the same doors, it doesn't matter what year as long as you buy the manual 2nd gen flip out mirrors. Just remember to get the plate that reinforces the inside of the door where the mirror attaches.



There is a way to make them into power/heated mirrors by using the arms from the 2nd gen mirrors and the heads from the earlier style 3rd gen mirrors. Evidently, if you get the more recent versions of the mirrors, nothing is compatible for the swap. I was able to do it on mine last year and have the flipout power/heated mirror on my '95.

So if they make power towing mirrors for a 2001, and a 2001 towing mirror will fit a 1997, and I have power mirrors already? What's the deal? Everybody says they need hybred kits to put power towing mirrors on a '97.
