I bought my first Cummins Dodge a couple months ago and I'm still learning the ropes. Am I reading the forum right... are the earlier tow mirrors not heated? I have standard power/heated mirrors on my 01 and have plans to buy the tow mirrors as soon as the dealer gets them in (on back order). Will they not just plug in and off I go?

Great forum... really glad I found you guys!

Mike,

You're correct, the tow mirrors for the 02 are not heated. To have heated and electrically adjustable tow mirrors you need a set of tow mirrors for a second gen truck and a set for a third gen truck and do a conversion which involves using the base from the second gen mirrors and the head from the third gen mirrors. I believe Rob Thomas has posted the instructions on how to do the swap. Do a search and I'm sure you'll be able to find this information as theres been a lot of members here that have done it.

It's a lot easier to buy the Bestop electric/heated mirrors from Summit Racing Equipment for about $311. 00. P/N 73622-01 you have to call to order, that number isn't listed on their website. I just installed a set last week in about an hour.
