Both of the electric mirrors on my 1997 Dodge

2500 have gone limp. My dealer says there is no fix and they must be replaced $225 each. If I must spend that much I think I want extend mirrors. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My first time on the forum and not sure how to use it

They can be fixed for about $5. 00 and 2 hours work. There are 4 self tapping screws holding a saddle over the chrome arm which is what allows it to break away. These screws get stripped out and the mirrors flop. Remove the door panel and the mirror and drill and tap the screw holes to 1/4-20 and put in allen head bolts, tighten them down so the saddle clearance is the thickness of a penny and they are really tight again. I have pics of the setup I can e mail. They are posted on here somewhere about a year ago so try a search under my screen name and it should show up.

Good Luck

John
