Are the mirrors all the same for all weight classes (1500-3500) for the 94-2001 trucks?

I need to replace at least the passenger side and somone said the 1500's were different - is that true? I know the 2002 1500 and 2500 are different than the 3500.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 98+ heated power mirrors - right now mine are just powered.

I saw in other posts that the 98-2001 and 2002 3500 should fit the 96 models.

I just want to make sure I buy a set that fits.

Thanks!

Dan

I don't see why not, thee doors are all the same sheetmetal across all the weights...

Unless someone knows a difference for the bolt holes on early 2nd gen trucks?

"I know the 2002 1500 and 2500 are different than the 3500. "

For model year 2002 the 1500 is the oddball - third-generation sheet metal. For model year 2002 the 2300 and 3500 are the same - both are second-generation sheet metal.

I put the 98+ power/heated mirrors (off a 2001) on my 96. They bolt up fine, but the plugs are different.

All power mirrors are interchangeable as far as mounting is concerned on the 1994-2001 1500/2500/3500 and 2002 2500/3500 series. The plugs are on the 98+ power/heated mirrors are different than the plugs on the power only chrome mirrors.

Thanks

Thanks everyone!!!

And thanks for the correction on the 2002 model year.

AFter doing some more searching - now to decide - is it time to upgrade to "real" towing mirrors? hmmm

Decisions decisions - or is that - Money Money.

And thanks for the info on the plugs being different. I knew that had to be the case. I'm not worried about that since electrical troubleshooting is my specialty.

And besides - me and Rube Goldberg must be closely related!

Just so I'm not missing anything, does that mean a 94-98 truck would need the heater wiring added then? Or did they just change the connector when the 98 model came out?

Curious is all.

Yes, the older trucks did not have a mirror heater option.

This means you need to add the wiring, add a switch/timer, etc.

Dan

The older trucks should have 3 wires to the mirror, the 98+ trucks have 5 wires.
